2. All the women on my mother's side live till their '80s

but I just hope to make it into my mid-70s. I smoke which is shortening my life span. But I have plans to quite, since the price of cigarettes has gone up in my state. It is going to be a choice real soon of either eating or smoking.

and mentally together right up to the end, whenever that is. I've been watching my in-laws, who are in their 90's deteriorate quite rapidly in the past six months or so, and it's heart breaking.

I don't want to die when I'm young (40-50's) but I don't want to get to the point where I can barely stand up and it hurts to walk.

And, of course, of old age?

Personally, I'd like to die by age 40, before the body starts falling to pieces. As that gives me 8.5 years to live, maybe I'll find something to life FOR by then.

I just turned 42 yesterday. My body isn't what it used to be (uh, actually, I guess it never was), but I'm not falling to pieces quite yet.

Funny, when I was 20 I never expected to see 30. When I was 30 I never expected to 40 (or even 35). Now I'm past 40 and I'm hoping to see the turn of the next century. Of course with my family history I'll be lucky to see 55.
