The dogwood trees are putting out leaves...
Soon the old lawnmower out back will require twenty yanks to start again, the garden will have to be re-dug by shovel-AGAIN, my true love and I will take long walks around the lake again, and my days will be consumed with disc golf and weekend caving. Again.

I can't wait. :)

Life is good, mostly.

1. What state? I miss the Maryland dogwoods, azaleas and
daffodils. No one in York Pa seems interested in flowers. (pout)

7. Alabama
Crocuses, Jonquils (Daffodils) and Redbud's. Also, the Weeping Willows and the Redbud's.

I saw Bluebirds this past weekend scoping out nesting boxes. I'm waiting for the Hummingbirds to come back to my feeder.

13. I have noticed the birds.
I had a beautiful Cardinal vist for a while today and many bluebirds. Still waiting on the trees to bloom out.

9. What part of Tennessee?
I am in bedford county (about 60 miles south of Nashville), my pink dogwood is still waiting. I have turned my garden over (by shovel) and added some cow manure to the mix. I am thinking about starting the garden off at the end of the month.

10. Putnam County-80 miles east of downtown Nashburg
Smart money says there will be another hard freeze in the next month, though I could be wrong. I'm waiting for it nonetheless.

3. Daffodils are blooming here,
and I noticed today that forsythia is starting to bloom. :)

5. It's wonderful, isn't it...except for the allergies
I'd gladly chop down those dogwood trees with mad glee if I could, because once they bloom, I'll be sick for a week. Nasty things. Between them and the Red Oaks, I'm semi-ill for several days each spring. And mid-TN is bad with funky mold, too. Still, I can't complain.

8. Spring is gorgeous here, but hard on those allergic.
I could have cheerfully done away with a former neighbor of mine one year.
He cut down every single dogwood in his yard, while they were blooming.
Just made me heartsick.

11. Ooops, see my post below, hehehe.
I don't much cotton to dogwoods, either.

4. We see it differently
The blooming of Bradford Pears are the indication that the short respite is over and summer is about to come down with a dull, hot, sickening thud.

6. I understand your view
I'm not crazy about the heat, but I hate cold with a passion. The one exception is the soothing cold of a fresh cave on a bitterly hot summer day. God's own AC. But I find as I get older that I'm more sensitive to heat and less to cold.

12. I'm waiting for the daffodils to bloom!
The foliage is up around the trees at school, but the blooms are still several weeks away, I fear. I haven't seen any crocuses yet, not even peeking through the invariably present snow.
