Poll question: Myers Briggs Personality Types, who's in the house?
Edited on Sun Mar-13-05 05:33 PM by fleabert
If you have taken the test, let us know your results here... I am curious if there is a prevailing type here at DU. There are 16 types, so I will have to make two polls... here's the link to the rest of the types:
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=105x2827103

www.myersbriggs.org
http://www.humanmetrics.com/cgi-win/JTypes1.htm (online test, not thru offical MB site)

I'd also be curious if you agree with results or not. Here's an overview of all the types, this site has lots of good stuff, poke around a bit if you are interested in this stuff. I love it!

15. ESTP
"Friendly, adaptable, action-oriented. "Doers" who are focused on immediate results. Living in the here-and-now, they're risk-takers who live fast-paced lifestyles. Impatient with long explanations. Extremely loyal to their peers, but not usually respectful of laws and rules if they get in the way of getting things done. Great people skills."

37. I am great at basic mathematics
When I would visit graveyards as a little kid, I would always be able to find out how old people were when they died really quickly. I also love sports statistics and the such but I hate advanced math. My favorite subjects are history and english. I am gonna be majoring in liberal arts at the community college as a matter of fact. Yes, patterns acan drive me ntus and as far as data goes yes, I can remember stuff easily, I dont even study for my history tests EVER yet I get the best grades in the class.

43. In may be because of an artifact in the test...
I'm an INTJ as well and I usually score one more question as an I than as an E. There's a reason. Some of the I/E questions ask about things like fear of public speaking and standing up for yourself - I score those as an E. Other questions ask about playing well with others and whether you like to work in groups or alone - I score those as an I.

I'm still a bit stunned that so many people here scored INTJ though since I've always been given to understand we are the rarest of the types.

And I score the same as you :-) I have no fear of speaking in public, but I don't socialize much. I hate meeting new people. But I can me more extraverted with people I'm very, very comfortable with. My family and close friends. :-)

As for the number of INTJs, I don't think this is a good environemtn for test taking. These online exams probably aren't all that accurate. I've actually taken the real myers-brigg twice, and scoer INTJ both times. I took a home version a few years ago and scored only slightly different.

I don't think I've met another one in person before, but I would bet that a few people I've talked to online might fit a similar type. I never really considered myself an activist though, well not until recently anyways. Maybe it was just that nothing got me quite riled up enough until recently to get me to be more active.

62. I changed type in 3 of the 4 categories
The first time I took the test was about 10 years ago, and I scored as an ISTJ at that time. I took it again last year, and I am now an INFP. Still an introvert, but I flipped type in all the other categories. I really think the introvert/extrovert thing is hard-wired into our brains, and it would take some sort of major trauma to change that aspect of our personalities.

68. I'm an INFJ. Here's a link to a neat page I found...
that has a lot of information on these personality types. There's a link that explains what the letters mean. Also, there's information about ideal mates according to temperament. I found it kind of interesting.

A majority of the people answering this poll on a Web site where people "hang out" with other people without actually physically being with other people are....Introverts.

I don't know for sure but there might be something funny (humorous I mean) about that. :)

86. We introverts like to hang out anonymously on message boards.
Edited on Mon Mar-14-05 02:37 PM by Blue_In_AK
It limits our exposure, and we don't have to actually "engage." :)

edit to add -- This is the truth. I go for literally DAYS without even leaving my house (I work at home), and I'm happy that way.

88. This is a lot of INFJ's since only 1% of people are them.
"INFJs are gentle, caring, complex and highly intuitive individuals. Artistic and creative, they live in a world of hidden meanings and possibilities. Only one percent of the population has an INFJ Personality Type, making it the most rare of all the types."
