What is your experience with rebates? (warning: somewhat boring thread)

Tonight, I just doubled my computer's memory and this is really good, especially for my photoshop, and it will be even better if they send me the 50 dollar rebate I'm supposed to get.
The trouble is, I'm still waiting for a 40 dollar rebate for a phone I bought two months ago.

1. It always takes a while

I do a lot of rebates and it can take three to four months to get them. Also, I'll call the company involved to check on it.

Another thing is you have to do them EXACTLY as they tell you to or you are SOL.

I'm expecting 80 bucks in rebates, but not for another two months or so.

2. I always get the check

trouble is I often forget to send it in until it's too late. They count on people like me! Bought a new washing machine when I moved in here and with all the unpacking I forget to send the rebate in. $150 and it was from GE too. Threw myself at the wall a few times for that one.

3. rebates take a while

but you should get them;

if not, live up to your name RagingInMiami and rage at them until you get them...

I know lots of people that have done their rebate stuff and all have gotten them....It can take a while, though.....

4. They do take forever

But then I get the little postcard rebate for $20 and forget to ever take it to the bank, until it's past the 60 days. Ahh, I love that procrastination.
