I'm not the biggest supporter of PETA, but I support them going after J-Lo

EW YORK (AP) -- People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals wants Jennifer Lopez to "Get Right" when it comes to fur. Lopez introduced her Sweetface collection during New York Fashion Week last month.

"Please don't support Jennifer Lopez or her bloody business," according to a Web site that the animal rights group has devoted to the singer, actress and now fashion designer. "Many hot designers, including Stella McCartney, Vivienne Westwood, Todd Oldham, Marc Bouwer, and others have ... created synthetic alternatives that are hip, humane, and easily available and don't turn animals into fashion victims."

Calls by The Associated Press to Lopez's publicist seeking comment weren't immediately returned Friday.

Other text on the Web site describes Chinese animal skinning techniques - in extreme detail - while streaming video juxtaposes footage of animals being slaughtered with pictures of a fur-wearing Lopez.

While waiting for my eye exam I was perusing a fashion magazine that showed the recent fashion show put together by Jennifer Lopez. There was FUR everywhere in the fashions she put her name on (I'm sure she probably has someone else doing the design). This is the stuff that I support PETA for (I'm a meat eater - don't get me started there). Good Luck to them!!

1. When PETA stands outside biker bars
and throws fake blood at men wearing leather, I'll have a little more respect for them.

7. anything for publicity
So PETA is doing publicity now for J. Lo? You know if they just ignored her line of "fashion" and the rest of us shoppers ignored it, the line would sink quietly into the sea. It is March 12, people are not going to be buying fur anyway unless they're somehow pumped up and brain-washed by the publicity machine.

The conservation movement is a breeding ground of communists
and other subversives. We intend to clean them out,
even if it means rounding up every birdwatcher in the country.

8. Her line is hideous
It evokes the sort of clothing worn by that actress who played the desperate, pathetic, abused girl who equated sex with popularity in SATURDAY NIGHT FEVER.

One does have to wonder if Miss Lopez made a secret deal with PETA to call attention to her efforts. They certainly wouldn't get any press on their merits, that's for sure.

For the life of me I cannot understand first, why entertainers of all stripes get into the clothing business, knowing nothing about tailoring, quality, construction, and so on, and second, why suckers shell out their cash for that crap...

Shallow, consumer society. Whatever happened to our work ethic, our "use it up, wear it out, make it do, or do without" attitude? Stuff, stuff, and more stuff, bread and circuses, hypnotize the sheep with shiny things! It's beyond absurd!

9. Good point.
Conventional wisdom would say that. Who knows.
