As opposed to a flamer. I've seen a lot of this, and I think it could use some standard terminology. Here's a hypothetical example of what I mean:
Original Post: Should black people be angry at whites about slavery?
You: I'm black, but can't be angry at American whites about slavery. I immigrated to the US in 1990 from Nigeria, so my ancestors were never slaves here.
Stalker: So you're saying it's OK for white Americans to have black slaves? You're saying slavery is RIGHT??
You: No, I'm not. Just saying I'm not angry at whites, because slavery in America hasn't affected me.
Stalker: You didn't answer the QUESTION! Do you think slavery is OK, or not?
You: Of course, I think slavery is wrong. It just hasn't had any effect on me, so I'm not angry at white people about it. Besides, none of the white people I know own any slaves.
Stalker: So you're saying that because white people TODAY don't have slaves, it was just FINE AND DANDY that there WAS slavery in America?
You: Silence.
Stalker: Well, I can't HEAR you! Are you going to answer my question or not? Well?
You: Silence.
You (answering another poster whose ancestors were slaves in South Carolina): I see your point. If my ancestors had the experience that yours did, I might feel that way myself.
Stalker: Oh, so it's OK for YOU to say that slavery is justified and wonderful, even if someone who is descended from slaves says otherwise? I can see why you're afraid to answer my question. What do you have to say to that, huh? Well? Are you afraid of the TRUTH, or are you not really black like you say you are?? Well? Huh?
So what do you all think? New standard terminology? New Demopedia entry?
