Poll question: Greatest "College" Basketball player of all time.
Edited on Fri Mar-11-05 02:43 PM by maveric
There have been many but a few have stood out. Some of which never made it in the NBA.

Really, the only other valid choices are MJ and the Big O.

EDIT: You asshat, you edited the subject line to insert the word "college." :grr:

5. I knew I forgot someone worthy.
Maravich averaged 40 pts a game throughout his NCAA career and Walton was unstoppable but "Lew" may have been the best.

3. Yes it was supposed to have been "college". Not NBA.
For some reason my subject line didnt appear in full when I hit "post message". My poor typing probably had something to do with it too.
Sorry!

4. You went and screwed up my vote!
Tell you the truth, I'd have to go with Lew Alcindor.

20. yeap, only walton or russell even come close.
count those championships, baby.

alcindor's freshman class beat the hell of the UCLA varsity in an unoffical game, and that varsity team won the NCAA.

altough walton's game in the NCAA's against memphis state where he went 21 for 22, 15{?) boards and 7-8 blocked shots and sold $3,000 worth of popcorn at halftme was stunning. it was the single best game i ever saw a collegiate play.

11. Christian Laettner ... two T's
In my opinion, as biased as it may be, he is the best college player.

He holds quite a few NCAA records and it's amazing how many pivotal plays he was a major part of (the biggie being the winning shot in the 1992 regional final against Kentucky ... wow! Still brings tears to my eye, I'll never forget that game. I still have heart palpitations when I watch it on ESPN Classic.).

MJ was good, but I think most people associate his NBA days with his college days. He had some great days in college (1982 being one example), don't get me wrong, but he wasn't that superstar player that he became in the NBA.

12. Jordan?
There were two other players better than him on his own team! Sam Perkins was a much better college player than Jordan. It looks like we have someone with a short memory doing the poll.

What, you had to put that white boy Laettner on the team? But you drop a strong black man? typical.

18. Bias was unbelieveable
I don't think the Celtics ever really got over that. What a shame, for him and his family I mean.

I probably saw every game of his that was on TV (huge college basketball fan at the time) and he had everything. Complete player.

to go to hell and played for little Indiana State. Magic Johnson was good too..

Edited on Fri Mar-11-05 07:45 PM by LostInAnomie
Single handedly took ISU all the way to the championship. Only to be stopped by Magic Johnson and a stacked Michigan St. team.

edit- whoops typo
