I've been called a neocon even when I was writing against the war. Never been called a war-profiteer, but, if it makes you feel any better, here's what I have been called, and for what:

Neocon:
1. Neocons are not stupid, but rather dangerously brilliant, if misguided.
2. I don't believe the war was immediately about oil, but rather was a function of our current geopolitical strategy in the mideast, which is only proximately dependant on oil.
3. If China, a long-term military threat, has announced its plans to militarize space, maybe we should think about countering that.
4. Even though I disagree with the notion of an Iranian war, the building Iran-Iraq-Syria-Lebanon Shia Crescent could spark a pan-Muslim war, especially when oil reserves run low, and perhaps we ought look at preventing that, especially since we created it.
5. War profiteers are not neocons. Neither are the religious right.
6. I was willing to forgive Kerry's and Edwards's pro-IWR votes, even if I disagreed intensely with them.
7. I believe we should stay in Iraq until the Iraqi army proves itself capable of withstanding the combat a Sunni rebellion would create.

Fundie:
1. I'm against late-term abortions, though I think they should be legal.

1. I disagree with the proposed policy of targeting Democrats who only vote blue, say, 60% of the time (and party line 95% of the time) for defeat when we're only five seat losses away from losing our ability to filibuster.

12. I don't like the fact that I can't say any of the above in GD.
13. I don't want to abandon the South to the Republicans, even if that means giving some ground on certain issues (though I certainly wouldn't suggest throwing gays or women to the wolves or anything so drastic)
14. I'd rather vote for McCain than Hillary--not because I'm a Republican, or because she's a woman, but because I do not think Hillary would be a particularly good president. I would still vote for her over any other proposed Republican nominee, though.

Also I'm an insensitive, ignorant, misogynist, idiot, testicle-thinking man with obvious 'mommy issues' because I disagreed with a certain claim in the Fat Wars that the situation of fat women was so horrendous that no man, no matter how fat or how enlightened, could ever possibly even understand enough to comment on any--ANY--aspect of the 'Fat Actress' situation.

For each of these I was told I was the attached tag, and was told I ought leave DU. Perhaps I'm too moderate for DU. Still, as I'm very much against nearly every thing nearly every Republican has done since 1980, and I hold progressive beliefs quite dearly, I have no plans to immediately leave DU. It's a wonderful place. Even if I'm not *quite* as liberal as I should be.
