Can we discuss the Manchurian Candidate remake?
I watched it last night and it blew my mind.

1. I really liked it
and I must say that the first Manchurian Candidate is one of my all-time favorite movies and I was prepared to not like it because it's a remake of such a wonderful film.

But they did such a good job with it! They updated it and changed it just enough to keep it exciting and relevant.

It was a great movie.

2. I really liked it, too
The acting was SUPERB. Denzel Washington is one of my favorite actors, and one of the best dramatic leads of all time, IMHO. The remake was every bit as good as the original, and they really did make an effort to make it relevant to today's geo-political situation.

Overall it's a definate two thumbs up

4. It was like looking through the looking glass
a lame asshole propped up by industry to be president.

Meryl Streep kicked serious ass too!!!

3. the only part i didn't think was done all that well compared to the
original was the brainwashing scenes, i thought the originals were far better, they had dialogue that was ahead of it's time and some really dark humor.

5. The Corporate Candidate
Although I'm partial to the original, I really thought the remake was good. And Meryl was awesome-I heard she modeled her character on Karen Hughes!

7. I really liked it
and even though I don't always like Glen Close that much she was terrific. She chewed on the scenery as always, but she chewed well.
