3. I like my Dish, but the video compression from the sat kind of sucks.
If you have or are going to have HD, cable delivers a better sig.

I'm in the business, so I'm picky, but I see a lot of compression artifacts on the Dish sig.

The only thing I miss from cable are the On Demand channels.

9. We have DirecTV
Comcast cable sucks and DISH didn't want my business, so my choices were DirecTV and rabbit ears, and the rabbit ears didn't bring in PBS until after dark, at which point it was fuzzy but visible.

I really like the integrated TIVO box and my picture is really nice. Even with a second box and the TIVO service it still costs less than what Comcast was charging us.

10. We have the dish, and TiVO.
Since we don't have (usually) a lot of rain here in SoCal, the dish or satellite is WONDERFUL! And now that we have TiVO, we really don't know how we lived without it. You tell it what program you want, and it finds and records it for you. Completely addictive, IMHO.

:D

14. Cable is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO 1990...
I've got DirecTV and am proud of it. Cable suck the big one. But now even I'm feeling left behind because I don't have a TV capable of HD.

In time...in time...

But for now...

15. Cable
I'd love to get DISH, so that I could watch Free Speech TV and World Link, but my apartment building won't let us install satellite dishes.

Now my brother in the suburbs has DISH, and he didn't even know those two channels existed until I told him, and he wasn't particularly interested even then.

But above all, I'd like the option of choosing which stations to subscribe to.

16. Started out with a 10 foot Satellite dish back in the early 80s. That
was the good old days when you could get everything for free, I went to Dish for a few years and now using a DirecTV dish with TIVO. I love this little dish, and the TIVO is great. I just wished I hadn't taught my wife how to record Oprah!

17. I have a unique Dish problem-
since 9/11 they've done something to the air traffic patterns, and we live along an "approachway" to O'hare, about twice as far from the airport as we are to lake michigan(we live between the two)...anyway- there are certain times of the day and night when the planes fly between my dish and the satellite, interupting the signal for a few seconds...it can happen a dozen times an hour sometimes, and it's maddening, and they tell me that there's not much they can do(my lot is oriented east-west, and here are trees, so moving the dish won't help).
we're planning on selling and moving in the next several months anyway, otherwise i might investigate a bigger dish.
I also have free basic cable- i used to have cable internet access(switched to DSL), and when i turned in the modem, they never disconnected the cable at the utility pole- i hooked a tv up to the line and voila! free basic cable. HOWEVER- the cable system in our area is an "addressable?" system- meaning that you need their descrambler box to get anything besides basic cable- having a cable ready tv or a different cable box dosen't mean a thing.
but at least i can get the local channels when it's stormy out.

18. Good ol' cable from the Comcast boys
Someday I'll upgrade to digital, or get the Dish, just for the music channels.
