BREAKING: Michael Jackson goes to court walking extremely slowly
Edited on Thu Mar-10-05 12:57 PM by Walt Starr
If I was the judge in this case I'd charge Jackson with contempt of court and forfeit his bond. Let him show up from jail each day.

The only other question I have is, WHY THE HELL IS THIS TRASH ALL OVER EVERY LAST CHANNEL ON MY TELEVISION??????

We now return you to our regularly scheduled coverage of the Michael Jacson trial.

:eyes:

BTW, he's in his jammies.

:eyes:

So give me some REAL news since the morons who are tasked with the job are watching the freak show.

Poll: Congo War Is World's Top 'Forgotten' Crisis

http://slate.msn.com/id/2097314

By Ruth Gidley
LONDON (Reuters) - Brutal conflicts in Congo, Uganda and Sudan are the world's three biggest "forgotten emergencies," each dwarfing the toll of the Asian tsunami but attracting scant media interest, a Reuters poll of experts showed on Thursday.

War in Democratic Republic of Congo has claimed at least 10 times as many lives as the December tsunami yet remains almost unheard of outside of Africa, key players in the aid world said. "It's the worst humanitarian tragedy since the Holocaust," said John O'Shea, chief executive of Irish relief agency GOAL. "The greatest example on the planet of man's inhumanity to man."

Reuters AlertNet, a humanitarian news Web Site run by Reuters Foundation, asked more than 100 humanitarian professionals, media personalities, academics and activists which "forgotten" crises the media should focus on in 2005.

After Congo, they chose northern Uganda, west and south Sudan, West Africa, Colombia, Chechnya, Nepal and Haiti as the most neglected humanitarian hotspots.

...

Many experts accused the Western media of routinely ignoring emergencies in countries of little geopolitical significance for big powers despite the enormous scale of suffering.

"One television news producer we met in the U.S. summed up the situation since spring 2003 this way: 'Look, we've got three foreign news priorities these days: Iraq, Iraq, Iraq,"' said Gareth Evans, head of the International Crisis Group think tank.

...

Almost half of those polled -- including U.N. relief coordinator Jan Egeland and U.S. leftwing intellectual Noam Chomsky -- nominated Congo, citing the brutality of an ugly, tangled war that has killed nearly 4 million people since 1998.
Congo's war officially ended in 2003 but fighting still rages in parts of the east and the United Nations estimates that 3 million people are cut off from desperately needed aid.

...

More than 20,000 children have been abducted by a cult-like rebel group and forced to serve as soldiers and sex slaves, while most of the population in the conflict zone have been forced from their homes into squalid camps, say aid agencies.

...

"Nearly two million people have been made homeless and hundreds of thousands more have been killed."

Besides, thinking about starving people is so much of a downer..especially when watching Michael and eating Big Macs.

3. What are you talking about? No one has been killed in Iraq since
March 2003. We were greeted with flowers and bare Iraqi breasts. Those who were killed in March were only trampled in the mad dash to welcome the troops.

Seriously, have you been to Iraq? If not, then how do you know what's really going on there?

God-damned librul.

4. F-ing Drama Queen
This lunatic drama queen has got to get his head out of his ass. Regardless of innocence or guilt, this is a celebrity that is so far divorced from the real world it is absurd. You just DON'T pull this shit on a judge, "oooh my back hurt."

Have your doctor write you a script and deal with it.

Edited on Thu Mar-10-05 05:04 PM by springhill
And you know this from all your conversations with him. Jeez, because someone is diffferent he is a lunatic? So is Bill Clinton a rapist because he has affairs? The mean-spiritness of some people really boggles my mind. This article put out by Jeff Koopersmith in 2003 before his arrest still applies as far as I am concerned. He has been convicted of nothing, but I think there are some who want him to be guilty because they just don't like him. And you don't have to like him, but that does not make him a child molester or a lunatic.

The Lynching of Michael Jackson

Feb. 20, 2003 -- NEW YORK (apj.us) -- Bill O'Reilly, master hatemonger for Rupert Murdoch's/Roger Ailes' FOX News Channel, should be proud of himself this week.

His vicious, nonstop attacks on Michael Jackson have come to fruition in the massively frenzied media lynching of the once-innocent, now-trampled persona of the little boy who led the Jackson Five, and later lost himself to what I call "The American Nightmare": reaching the pinnacle of success only to be gunned down from the envy of it.

<snip>

On just one night earlier this week, television viewers across the nation were treated to four hours (three on ABC and one on NBC) of contemptible "revelations" concerning Michael Jackson's troubles with growing up and his increasing age. Last week FOX Television did a "Special" lynching of Jackson which seemed to whet the appetite of a viewing public with a near-insatiable desire to see the powerful crushed, no matter the expense, no matter the lack of substantiated evidence.

To say these were American networks' sorriest hours would be an understatement.

For three hours, ABC -- The "American" Broadcasting Network, owned largely and ironically by the Disney Corporation who created the Magic Kingdom upon which Mr. Jackson seems to have modeled his "ranch" -- exploited and abused the "King of Pop" so ferociously that one might think it was endeavoring to force the man who won't grow up toward suicide, much as the editorialists as the Wall Street Journal drove Vince Foster to snuff out his own life on a park bench.

<snip>

America was treated to hours of Martin Bashir, the British "journalist" who was fortunate enough to "get" Princess Diana to talk about how she cheated on her husband, Prince Charles -- himself "a little odd."

It seems Mr. Bashir is fond of ingratiating himself with the famous, and more so the super wealthy, so that he can use them and abuse them -- and of course, cash in.

Bashir was at his most repellent pretending to take Mr. Jackson into his confidence, feigning concern for the singer, protecting Jackson's children from the paparazzi, and then humiliating him repeatedly -- for nothing more than money.

19. Yes, he's absolutely guilty of failure to appear.
He was due in court. He failed to appear. A bench warrant was issued and he was given an hour to appear. He appeared one hour and forty minutes later.

Anybody else would be sitting in jail tonight and every night until the trial is over.

23. And you know the truth about these allegations?
I think there has been more evidence about the lack of veracity of the accusers that of Michael Jackson.

As you may have notice in recent news reports, the brother who supposed was shown pornographic material and witnessed his brother's molestation lied on the stand.

I think a lot of people get a pervous pleasure out of wanting to believe he did something because, admittedly, he looks wierd.

"Failure to appear' is an AUTOMATIC trip to jail for the common man involved in a criminal case.

Whether he's a pedophile or not, MJ still needs a swift kick in the ass!(metaphorically, of course...:D)

Edited on Thu Mar-10-05 01:04 PM by KansDem
I mean, as long as we're tasering dads who steal salads, grandmas in wheel chairs, or pre-adolescent children, why not pop icons who dangle infants over third-story balconies and have a history of wanting to "nap" with 10-year-old boys who aren't his children?

Oh, and incidentally, has his assets been seized yet? Or is that only for individuals who are caught smoking a reefer and are not well-connected to the GOP...?

22. Watch the film for this:
After taking about 15 slow steps, Michael stops. He turns quickly to his left, to see something behind him, and then snaps to his right and looks behind him. A second later, he moves slowly forward.

Anyone with serious back problems will know that the turns are impossible if one is experiencing back problems, even muscle spasms. If it is a serious injury, it is even less possible to do that little twist.

I speak as a person with a fused back, with a large "cage." His presentation is an insult to those with real back problems.

25. Apparently Jackson dreamed up this stunt on his own;
his own lawyer was described as looking disgusted as Jackson made his appearance. The prosecution's case may have some serious holes, but Jackson certainly isn't helping his cause with his antics.

26. Yep, Jackson will do more to harm himself in this case
than the witnesses for the prosecution are doing to harm their case!

If Jackson testifies, I will reverese my prediction of acquittal. All the man has to do to stay out of prison is everything his attorney tells him to do. His attorney is a legal genius and is running a brilliant defense. His only potential way of losing now is if Jacko loses it for him.

32. Almost every witness
can get confused and contradict themselves on the stand. Any good lawyer can make the most honest and sincere witness look like they doubt themselves from time to time. It takes absolutely no talent to get a teenager to mix up an answer or two. In fact, if the defense attacks the teens too hard, it will reverse the anticipated outcome -- juries don't usually care to see attorneys dog someone who is a non-threatening witness.

As for Jackson, this is as phoney as his sister's disrobing act. He is attempting to show the world that "Michael doesn't have the same boundries as adults as far as bedroom things go .... he's like a little boy who would wear his jammies in public!" Pathetic.

It doesn't matter what the judge's instructions are at this point: every juror is very aware that Michael attempted a cheap stunt to distract attention from what was anticipated to be a most important day of testimony. The expression on his attorney's face indicated that this was Michael's ploy, and that it will hurt him.

30. my back isn't near like yours
but I've been in chronic pain since I was pregnant with my daughter almost 18 years ago. I would rank my pain as constant but lowgrade (like a 3-4 out of 10) and I don't even turn around as fast as Jackson did today!

My husband has a bad back and he doesn't either. Even our kids, who have great backs, notice Jackson whirling first one driection and then the other and then going back to the really slow walk.

What a faker!
