I hate DU, my boiled eggs are overdone
I put eggs on to boil for hardboiled eggs and came to quick check out what's happening on DU and now it's half an our later and my eggs have boiled almost dry. So it's all your fault for making me get so interested in reading and writing and all that that I forgot about my eggs.

2. Devil 'em.
Mash the goobies out of the yolks with some mayo and relish juice. Then call me when they're ready. :-)

14. Update on the eggs, they're deviled, come on over
Only 2 of them had brown spots once I peeled them, so I deviled them (mayo, mustard, capers, shake of paprika for color) and they're waiting to get eaten. Taste pretty good too. Sorry racoons.

3. OK, let's learn to take responsibility for our own actions
You chose to come to dU when you knew you had eggs cooking. That is no one's fault but yours.:nopity:

4. I've always wondered
how one tells if they are overdone. I generally have mine on full-boil for ten minutes or so, and they usually turn out fine. I once got distracted and they boiled for 15 minutes, but still seemed OK. What happens if they are over-done? Do they burn? Get brittle? What?

5. All the water is boiled away and they stick to the bottom of the pan
I managed to catch them with 1/4 inch of water left

11. racoons like them, dog chases racoons, all are happy, oh crap
now I'm gonna get flamed for letting my dog chase the racoons that I lured into my compost pile by putting out eggs that they really like that I overcooked by being with you all on DU. Oh well, asbestos undies on and it's still all your fault.

12. SO I'll take that as a
"no you should not eat hardboiled eggs after they have been boiling for 1/2 hour."

13. Trick for perfect boiled eggs.
Cover the eggs in cold water. Bring to a full, rolling boil, then turn the heat off. Cover the eggs and let stand for about 15 minutes, then drain and rinse in cold water to stop the cooking process.
