Sabrematricians are not real statisticians. At least that's what we statisticians all say. Now, if you take those sabremetrics and can really define a model that says waht a lineup needs to look like to win between 95 - 102 games, given a pitching staff that has x.xx ERA and .xxx BAA, then you are a statistician.

I was always the guy who had to go place next to the one who couldn't catch.

Wasn't a bad hitter, just not strong enough to be a power hitter. So, my job was to hit singles, steal bases, and protect the guy who couldn't play the field.

32. My Sporting Life!

The other thing i always had to do was guard the other team's best scorer in basketball.

There's something about the defensive side of sports that always charged me up and the coaches must have seen it. Coaches love guys who play defense, and i wasn't doing it because i wanted the coaches to like me. (I hardly ever did anything so someone would like me. My dearth of friends would be the manifestation of that.) I just really, really liked doing it.

Although i was too small to play football, i'd much rather have been a defensive back than a receiver, or a linebacker rather than a running back.

In b-ball, i was a guard. I figured that meant i had to, oh i don't know, GUARD SOMEBODY!

So, i'm used to caring about defense. We'll go out to the field, grab a beer, and talk. The freepers won't get the ball out of the infield anyway.
