Shouldn't Kirstie Alley lose some weight before doing the Jenny Craig ads?
Edited on Tue Mar-08-05 07:53 PM by Wat_Tyler
I mean, how is that meant to sell the product? We can see no great transformation in her - she's pretty big. Are we supposed to think 'hmm, well, Kirstie Alley intends to lose weight using this product, so I'm going to try it.' It doesn't actually show the product being successful, does it? It might work, it might not - the ad doesn't prove anything. Why would I want to try the product advertised? Am I the only person who cares about such things? ;-)

3. Maybe - but shouldn't the ad be selling the product at the time of
broadcast?

7. Think of the great marketing if they can follow her through it.
Not that I care for Jenny Craig or any other weight-loss plan...

2. I think she should make a commercial in which she eats a baby
And proclaims this as her diet secret. Not because she's overweight, but because she just likes eating babies.

5. Babies are low carb.
So maybe Kirstie's doing Jenny's Low Carb version of the diet.

33. Just so you know...
http://tafkac.org/food/baby.eating/upi.html

"Human fetuses are gaining popularity as a health food item across the border in the southern Chinese boomtown of Shenzhen, a local newspaper reported Wednesday. The Eastern Express reported that its sister publication, Eastweek magazine, conducted an investigation recently and found that fetuses were being eaten for reasons such as improving one's complexion and treating asthma."

Can't find the pix of the Chinese artist eating the "baby" that made the rounds a few years ago, but if you like you meat a little less tender...

10. That's not the point though - we want someone who's lost weight selling it
She doesn't look like she's lost much in the ad - she spends her time talking about the possibility of losing weight.

17. It would be hilarious if she failed to lose weight.
That would destroy the entire brand pretty permanently.

then it will be a huge money-maker for them.

18. having recently lost 30+ lbs myself, i have to disagree.
I appreciate seeing someone start an ad campaign with them who has a weight problem, and -over time- see the results. She was heavier before the spots started running, and she speaks about the program as if she's already tried it. I know she calls them to 'start' and all, but she talks about what food they have and that it tastes good...

IMO- it irritates the shit out of me when skinny people try to sell me weight loss products and really buff people sell exercise products. Show me some realistic people and I am a lot more interested. Before & Afters are helpful too.

12. I'm not sure I understand.
Jenny Craig is a weight loss program. Why would you lose weight before going on a weight loss program? It will show the product being successful if she stays with it and loses weight as people watch the transformation. A former newscaster for CBS did that once with Weight Watchers. You followed her progress and she would do new ads as she lost weight and got thinner and thinner. Can't remember her name right now. Kathleen something. Skinny people advertising weight loss plans just don't do much for me.

why would someone who doesn't need to lose weight join jenny craig, That just promotes anorexia.

Like with Sarah Ferguson and Weight Watchers. She isn't fat.
