short hair or long hair?
Edited on Sun Oct-12-03 06:29 PM by rene moon
I currently have short hair (think Halle Berry short) and I think I want to grow my hair out but don't know if I could stand the "growing-out" process.

What is your preference? Do you like short hair or long hair on women? Does it even matter? Any thoughts?

1. It doesn't matter much to me
I don't like extremely short hair on women, you know like a man's. But relatively short hair is okay.

4. no real preference, depends on the woman I suppose
generally I prefer long hair, but I'm flexible :)

of course, I have long hair myself, so sometimes it's funny-looking to date someone with the same hairstyle as me, lol

5. The growing out look is the best
It looks like a lion's mane... Well, I think it looks really good on women, but then again fashion isn't my forte.

IF YOU ARE YOUNG, WEAR IT LONG. You'll have PLENTY OF TIME TO WEAR IT SHORT WHEN YOU ARE OLD.

7. Thanks Skittles
I am 29 and have had my hair short for about 2-3 years. My husband loves it but I think I want longish hair for a while.

But I am not looking forward to growing it out. UGH

13. It doesn't look thick but it is...
I have gotten many compliments with the short hair but I have also recieved a few "Is she gay?" comments. Which is NOT the reason to grow out my hair. I just don't know what to do!

18. Seems like
you have lots of options...

Find a look you like with someone else who has hair like yours (unless you're very good at visualizing). Long hair is beautiful but if you don't have time or don't want to take care of it I'd stick with short.

12. Long hair!
My esteemed hairdresser talked me into it years ago. I was getting older, don't ya know, and she muttered two words to me.

"Longer. Lighter."

The mantra is working!! Long, lighter hair rules!! :-)

19. I have long hair for the first time in my life
and I love it! I wanted to try it long before I turn 40 (which is a few years off... Really) I also quit the highlighting and went back to burnette! When I'm ready to cut it off I will donate to a program that makes it into wigs for cancer patients. On men I love long hair!

21. Long hair is a pain, but looks killer
I can sit on my hair, and it helps me look presentable, but there are many drawbacks: hair everywhere in the house; must be worn in a bun to do anything physical; my extreme reluctance to dye or otherwise style it (how long will it take to grow out?!); takes tons more time to rinse clean and dry. What do you think about hats during the growing out period? I've never had short hair, so I can't say how long it would be...

22. Long on women, medium on men
Well, that's my preference anyway... :D I could never stand long hair on men. I consider "medium" to be the hair of Michael Stivic ("All in the Family") in 1971... Long would be defined as all the glam metal rockers of the 80s. Yuck.

Wait a mo, why am I talking about men? My advice to you is this: wear it the way you want to wear it. Don't let that stop you from experiementing if you want to try experimenting. It can always be cut back short again! ;-) And you might like it long.

24. It's your hair...
wear how you like it and not how some man prefers. You're the one who has to live with it and take care of it so do what you want with it.

Just my opinion.

At first, I thought this was a thread for men. As a guy, I like short hair personally. Some men look good with long hair, but a lot just look messy and greasy.

26. I like my long hair
It was medium, but it's getting pretty long again. I actually find it easier to maintain because it's so strait and thick, I can't really do any kind of shorter "style" anyway, so long is nice and simple for me really. Most males seem to like it too, so I guess that's a plus.

27. Depends on when I get around to getting it cut.
Edited on Sun Oct-12-03 07:35 PM by alfredo
I used to have hair half way down my back, braided, and a long beard. Now I am partially bald in a Frazier way, silver-haired, and proud.

edited for preferences. Short or long hair on women. It depends on the woman. short hair is sexy, looks good with an athletic build. Long hair for the romantic look.
Brunettes turn me on.

28. Grow it out. Just for the change
plus, after you have fun with it being different lengths, you can cut it short again for that dramatic change. Hair should be fun. Don't stress over it.

30. My preference - that a woman be wearing her hair
in a way that is obviously comfortable and chosen by her. Whether long or short, if the woman is comfortable with it - and not some kind of idiotic "Jennifer Anniston wears it this way, I should, too" thinking - then she will automatically look better.

Short hair looks great, so does long hair. I can be attracted to both,a nd thinka woman is equally blessed by either. So long as it's her choice, and she likes it./

47. Depends upon the woman, or the cut.
My wife used to have really long hair. (Think Jane Seymour here.) Then she got it cut very short to make it more managable. After seeing the new cut, I felt no need to mourn the loss of her long do. Short, it's cute, fun, and easy to care for. She still looks terrific!
