My 6 year old told me he dreamed about Ellis Island
and explained that it was right next to Liberty Island.

He's never been to NYC. I have no idea where he picked up this info.

Looks like I'll have to take him there now!

3. That's pretty cool
Was there some show on he might have heard while he was sleeping? He seems so young to even be aware of such a place.

You must be scratching your noggin, Maw. Or is he one of those wise old souls who comes up with this stuff all the time just to blow the Goddess' mind?

9. For a six year old,
he comes up with some confoundingly mature remarks. Then he goes back to being six.

4. Reincarnation?
This stuff happens quite frequently. I can remember having vivid dreams when I was a kid of another time, another place when I was somebody else. They faded as I got older, and I'm kind of dissapointed I never payed more attention to them.

10. I keep my mind open to the possibility
He once asked me if he used to be a girl. All I could answer was "Not in this life."

:-)

14. I was kicking around a movie idea like this....
19 year old kid comes out of a coma with the memories and personality of a A-4 Skyhawk Pilot who was killed in Nam.

11. Could be...
Or maybe he read it in one of the bejillion books we have around here, although I can't recall any Ellis Island stories.

7. He could have picked up the info lots of places
Could he have seen it on television? Could he have an older cousin or sibling who could have told him what they're studying in school?
If none of that seems to fit the bill, go with the reincarnation story. It's a nice story, whether or not true.

12. My first thought was that he might have watched History Channel
and picked up on it there. It seems to me that there was a program about the island on that station or on PBS, but it's been quite a while since it was aired. It'd be pretty amazing for him to remember it in such detail at this age.

17. He hasn't seen that movie...
Though I've been thinking lately that it would be one he'd enjoy...

And yes, Fievel goes to Ellis Island and past the Statue of Liberty.

16. There are a lot of children that are gifted
some call them indigo children. We are aware of 3, 2 grandchildren and on niece. They are very aware and speak of things and in words that most adults don't. If this phenomenon is real they truly give us reason to hope for the future.

18. I'd never heard of Indigo Children...
When I googled, the info I found on them made the phenomenon sound like Asperger's Syndrome.

Interesting, how one label makes them sound ill and the other makes them sound blessed, isn't it?

The longer I parent, the more I find it necessary to be wary of such labels, as they invite us learn about the word, but not necessarily the child. Still, I appreciate reading other people's insights on unique children.

Thanks for your comments! Enjoy your special grandchildren and your niece! :D
