Army - Military Rank question
On another forum that I post on, their Is this 20 year old woman (Ann Coulter type) always posting shit about herself that I suspect Is not true. She states that she Is In the Army (But that these past few months, she has been here In the states).

About three months ago she posted that she worked In the Intelligence department (Bull Shit, she Is an Idiot) as I recall, she was trying to defend the abuse (Torture) Images of the Iraqi prisoners.

A couple of days ago I found a post from her on another forum, In a reply to another member, she stated that she was a 1st Lieutenant in the Army Chemical Corps.

My question Is this ... Is it possable for me to find her real Military Rank?
I have her Army e-mail address, and her first and last name.
(Although the Info I have could be fake, she could also be lying about being In the Army)

1. Being an idiot and claiming to be in Army Intelligence might not
be such a reliable test to spot a liar ;-)

3. A 20-year old 1st Lieutenant?
Possible, but not likely. First off, she'd have to be a college graduate (22 years old) plus have about a year in service making her like 23 years old.

I'm sure it's possible if she graduated high school at 15.

More than likely she's a bullshit artist and a bad one at that.

5. Not necessary to be a college graduate...

... since enlisted ranks can apply for OCS. Happens less frequently these days, since there are still plenty of ROTC graduates available, but not impossible. Someone joining at eighteen could conceivably come out of OCS by the age of twenty as a second lieutenant, and maybe make first lieutenant in less than a year.

It's possible, but not usual. The interesting thing here is that if she is indeed posting from a military email address and she's just a lowly enlisted person, that's evidence of attempt to impersonate an officer, a definite no-no for an enlisted person.

edit typo.

15. THe army does not require college degree
You only need 2 yrs of credits (and no degree) to go to officer training and become a 2nd lieutenant. I'd imagine you could make it to 1st lieutenant, but not much beyond that without finishing your studies.

The army is the only branch that does this, I think. They also are (or were) the only branch that does not require a high school diploma to enlist.

4. Sounds very fishy.
She says that she's 20 and an 0-2 (paygrade equivalent to a 2nd Lieutenant). Highly unlikely. I'd dare say impossible. She's too young. You get commissioned as a 1st LT out of college, and spend a couple years at that before getting promoted to 2nd LT. I'm not an expert on the Army, but that sounds fishy to me.

11. Whoops!
I'm only really familiar with Navy ranks. It's easier for me to talk in terms of O-1, O-2, etc. Either way, to be a 20 year old O-2, she must have entered OCS at 18 and just have been promoted.

12. In the Army
An officer is an O-1 first (Second Lieutenant), then O-2 (First Lieutenant) unless they are in the Navy.

16. If it is really her government furnished email account
she is not supposed to be using it for private business. Call the Department of Defense Waste Fraud and Abuse Hotline at:
800-424-9098 and let them know.
You can also email any information you have to:
(e-mail: hotline@dodig.osd.mil)
Abuse of email accounts is rarely investigated, but if she already has a file open, it could be one more thing to send her out the door.
