Hahaha Richmond Mayor Wilder-report cards for parents
The local (mostly RW) radio call in show was all upset about this Friday afternoon-~"It's none of their damned business....." you get the idea.
_________

Will mom & dad make the grade?

Here is what you have been waiting for, kids: report cards for parents.

Mayor L. Douglas Wilder wants the city to grade them regularly starting in September.

He envisions giving parents marks on everything from their involvement in schools to their children's attendance.

Wilder has not yet settled on a specific grading plan, whether it will be A's through F's or a point system. Nor has he determined the cost of administering the new program. He is planning to include funding for it in his proposed budget for next fiscal year.

Wilder's idea isn't entirely new. A parental involvement checklist goes out to parents in Lebanon, Pa., and Chicago Public Schools considered the idea several years ago but never implemented it system-wide. Some Chicago schools issue checklists to parents, a spokesperson said.

1. He was one of our very best governors in VA. Incredibly smart guy.

Like Warner, he governed Virginia during a down time in our generally robust economy (since the early 1980's). He did very well and he even got gun control passed, which by VA standards was major progress.

Hey Doug Wilder, do a report card on the VA Legislature

2. Very funny. I'm all for pass or fail.
And while they are at it. How about every politician who can't get enough state school testing, take the tests themselves. Fail the test, leave your job.
