I'm not bothering with a poll because everyone will choose "other" and provide me with something I hadn't thought of.

10. I know you're thinking "London Calling"
And It's technically correct, but it wasn't released until 1980 IIRC, so I don't have to consider it. Nyeah.

And I want to add "For Your Pleasure" by Roxy Music, to the list.

I don't know that I would name it as the absolute best album of the 70's, but I'm a huge PG/Hackett-era Genesis fan.

And that's one of their crowning acheivements.

(Although, I personally prefer Selling England by the Pound...)

Dark Side is one of my all time favorites, Live at Budokan was outstanding, Loved Jim Croce, played it a lot, many many more, Thunder Road is imhop the greatest rock song of the 70's, but for sheer many of times a record was played, Full House. Every party, every bar, only Black Water by the Dooby Brothers got played more.

63. "Dark Side of the Moon" by Pink Floyd..
There's a reason it spent years on the Billboard charts. It's like a classical piece; you must listen to the entire album in order.

90. JimmyJazz this is a wonderful list of great albums
Let me just add Stevie Wonder's "Songs In The Key Of Life." Also near the top would be Stevie's "Innervision," "Fulfillingness, First Finally," and "Talking Book." 4 absolute masterpieces IMHO.

Personally, I like "Tonight's the Night" better but for most people the best Neil Young album of the 70's was "Harvest Moon".

122.  Tonights the Night and, Harvest Moon were both excellent albums.
but got caught up listening to Rust my first years in high school. Maybe Hey Hey, My My just settled with my renegade attitude at the time. I saw him 6 years ago at the gorge in george, and felt like a 15 year old all
over again. 3+ hours of shear bliss. Noone else in rock had this affect
on me. A Seattle DJ said it was the best concert he had ever seen bar none. I have to agree.
