1. Hi RonnyK !
Long time no see !!

I enjoyed Ray, but didn't think it was the best movie out there. Foxx was incredible, though.

And I wasn't able to watch all the extras because I can't find the remote for my DVD player - so couldn't manipulate the menu at all :(
What'd I miss ?

5. The extras are great.
Deleted sceens (which you can also watch with the film), interviews with Jamie and a some great clips with Mr. Charles himself and Jamie playing piano. It's so sad that Ray passed on before the film was completed. What a thrill that would have been for Jamie and Brother Ray to stand together at the Oscars.

2. He deserved that Oscar.
I don't think anyone came close to his performance.

3. Jamie Foxx had the most difficult job on Earth, and he kicked its ass
I can't imagine how hard it would be, to try to portray a beloved icon like Ray Charles. He also had to pull the "blind" thing off and even play and sing like the master himself--or at least enough to be convincing.

All your bases are belong to Jamie Foxx. Foxx ROXX.

4. I liked Leo's performance, but...

I never saw Million Dollar Baby or Ray. Then again I am biased because I went to see Howard Hughes' grave (he is buried in Houston) an hour before seeing The Aviator last Christmas.

7. FOXX Was FanTAStic
But some of the reviewers almost scared me off before I saw it because they kept saying he did an IMPERSONATION as opposed to REAL ACTING, and they said BLANCHETTE did REAL ACTING by not overdoing the HEPBURN mannerisms. Well, in watching FOXX, I totally forgot about FOXX and let go entirely into the bio-line of it all, like watching a documentary about Ray CHARLES, about whom I knew next to nothing.

This is not to take anything away from BLANCHETTE, since just seeing her on HUGHES's bed was a JOLT, given HEPBURN's image, equal to seeing FOXX show the FLINTY and drug side of CHARLES.

FOXX in "Collateral" was also great: Quietly sustaining a character with just glints of "acting" is quite a feat, or is it "directing" and "editing"? What the Academy Knickknacks needed for juice was to bestow BOTH "Best" and "Supporting" to FOXX. THAT would have blown the roof off. And he deserved it.
