How about another picture thread - wedding or commitment ceremony
Post a picture from your wedding or commitment ceremony and tell a (funny, sad, touching) story about it. I'll start (of course)

We had just come out of church and we both forgot that my Mother had planned to throw silver coins at us. It's an Italian tradition in my Mom's family to throw silver coins at the bride and groom to ensure prosperity. Then all the kids get to pick them up. Well, having forgotten we were shocked when we turned the corner and got whammed w/ this great big handful of coins (a lot of silver dollars too!) Everyone was laughing hysterically at the look on our faces and we couldn't help but join in.

Your turn.

4. Oooh! I can do this!
My husband is never keen on having his picture on the internet, but when I pointed out that he HAD had his picture on his business website for two years, he agreed that it would be fine for me to post a picture from our wedding.

I'm not sure I have any funny, sad, or touching stories to tell. I'm a big old sap and I got teary-eyed walking up the aisle on my father's arm. I guess one of the sweetest parts of our wedding was when the pastor called up my then ten-year-old daughter and included her in part of the ceremony, underscoring that even as we were joining as a couple, we were also forming a family unit of three.

Since then, two more family members have joined us, and my then ten-year-old daughter is soon turning eighteen. :)

And you have great taste in flower colors ;-)

12. Me on my wedding day
Still married almost 20 years later. The sad part is that my dad wasn't there to walk me down the aisle. He died before he ever got the chance to meet my hubby or our son. He would have loved them though.

That's sad about your Dad. If you believe in an afterlife I'm sure he was there w/ you.

15. Thanks!

We were married on a rainy day in March at sundown near the Pacific Ocean. We even had a fire going in the room during the dinner. I was glad to have a long sleeved dress.

Thanks also for your kind words about my Dad, I always like to think that he was there

I would have so loved to get married near the ocean but alas it was not to be. (I'm sure our loved ones are around when we really need them to be.)

Where were you married? - I take it that it wasn't in Florida?

We look at our marriage as being a team. We each do what we can do best and then we try to fill in the gaps. I learned that from my Dad, I think he knows.

16. It was a very hot (108+) August day in 1967....

we were very young.

We were married in my husband's mom and dad's home. There was alot of the family packed into a small living room for this wedding.
My husband's grandpa was a minister...he was very elderly, but insisted on performing the ceremony.

Mr. Tikki and I had dated each other all through school and after we graduated from High School we just decided to get married.

The shoes I was wearing are at least one and a half size too small. I was also wearing a loose style dress, but, was not expecting...just the style of the day. Mr. Tikki was wearing his uncle's heavy wool suit...it was very, very hot outside that day.

Because Mr. Tikki was under the age of 21, he had to get written permission from his parents to get married.

We were 19 and 18 years old....we will be married 38 years this August

43. What a nice story! Congratulations on all your years together.
It's funny, when I saw "1967" it didn't seem all that long ago; it was sort of a shock to read later in the post that you would celebrate 38 years of marriage.

And that's particularly odd, because I was born in 1966 and I always know exactly how old I am. ;)

The dress is beautiful :)

We had a really small wedding and no professional photographer. I can't find a photo of us together that has been scanned! I don't know why my photo is bigger than his - I tried to resize it - but here we are seperately:

We almost didn't have a professional photographer either. A friend was going to take the pictures but two weeks before the wedding he got very ill (he was HIV positive) and we had to run out and get a pro at the last minute. My biggest regret wasn't that he couldn't take the pictures - it was that he couldn't even attend.

So at least he was able to see the pictures and hear all about the wedding. He was a wonderful man; one of the reasons I'm working on an HIV therapeutic.
