It is easier to wear shoes than to carpet the world.
I thought this was a well-known saying... but I'm not sure now.

Has anyone else heard it? Do you know what it's from? I like it a whole lot.

Maybe I made it up...

1. Looks like it isn't a saying.

7. My interpretation:
It's easier to make small individual changes than to expect to change the whole world.

And no, I've never heard this saying before, but it's a good one.

10. Sort of...

Easier to get a thick skin than expect everyone to treat you kindly, is one way of seeing it... lots of ways it can be interpreted, all mean pretty much the same thing.

If your feet hurt when you step outside, do you wear shoes, or bemoan the fact that there's not coast-to-coast carpeting? Another thing that helps is watching where you step, but we can't be prepared for every situation we'll ever encounter, hence the shoes being a good idea.

I'm in a weird mood tonight.

9. I've never heard it before
But I like it and am willing to give you credit for it. It serves to justify my obsession with buying shoes. :yourock:

Yeah... a wider selection of footwear makes it easier to adapt to different situations, clearly. :)

15. oh sure, it means you can't/ shouldn't try to force young uns' to
feel the burdens / responsibilities/ woes
and have the patience/ seriousness, etc.
that older people, like say their parents do, no matter how much said parent would like them to.
