The Curse Lives!
As a life-long Red Sox fan, it pains me to say it.

But try and deny it now!

I am NOT a fair-weather fan, I choose to root for no other team.

But there is a curse and we are doomed to eternal disappointment!

2. I don't believe in the curse
I'm not a supersticious person. I think the Sox have got what it takes to make it to the Series this year and i hope they make it.

3. I didn't believe in the curse until 1986
There's no other explanation for Game 6.

17. No, Game 6 proved there wasn't a God
Edited on Sat Oct-11-03 07:32 PM by stopbush
otherwise the BoSox AND the Mets would have both lost that series (I know...but if you believe in a god, then you believe in miracles).

5. NO! we just can't beat the MONEY that Steinbrenner
can put together to build his team. It's not a curse.

8. The curse is tied to money!
The Red Sox owner traded the Babe to the Yankees for money to invest in a musical production, which bombed.

18. I think the curse is tied to Fenway
Edited on Sat Oct-11-03 07:31 PM by stopbush
even Ted Williams said it was a shithole.

Your luck may change once that Green Monstrosity is torn down and your new ballpark opens.

19. Nah
The curse is tied to the Big Dig. No titles for the Sox until it's completed (in other words, not in your lifetime or mine).

9. This was the pivotal game
They may still beat the Yankees, but mark my word, they'll lose in 7 in the World Series. Ever since 1918 when they've made it ot the world Series they've lost in 7--not 6--not 5--not 4, but 7.

It's a curse!

11. Don't worry
They're not getting anywhere near the World Series this year. they'll be lucky to play another game outside of Boston.

10. The real question is, who will be the next Boston great
to win a championship with the Yankees (the 1923 Yankees - the first Yankee team to win a championship - had ELEVEN former Red Sox players on its roster)?

Babe Ruth

Bobby Ojeda (OK, he was with the Mets)
Wade Boggs
Roger Clemens
Nomah?
Manny? (nah, we don't want him)
Who?

I mean, we can only use the A's as our AAA team for so long ...

12. I got another one for you
Red Ruffing totally blew as a Red Sox but kicked ass as a yankee and is a hall of famer as a result.

The Yankees dynasty of the 20's was built on former Boston players. The Yankees are evil imperialists ... I love it.

15. Actually...
The curse is about blowing leads in playoff series. It may not have any power over the Sox, if they're playing from behind.

16. If you don't believe in the curse, the Red Sox are doomed--you must believ
We must realize there is a curse, and find a way to rid the Red Sox of it.

Denial only makes it worse.

It's the first step to recovery!

20. Maybe If Your Team Wasn't So Racist...
you would've won a series or two. The Red Sox could have had both Jackie Robinson and Willie Mays. The only curse that you have is the curse of racism.

25. Dude, You Guys Haven't Won Since 1918
It's no curse. For the longest time, African-American and Latino free agents deliberately avoided signing with Boston. It's only been recently with Pedro and Manny that Latino players have felt welcomed in Boston, and even they don't talk to the media.

It's no curse. It's a century of mis-management
