Matt Hooker believes that anything is possible through hard work and perseverance. His personal statement is: "Please don't try to limit me by your perception of my limitations or by your perception of your own."
Mr. Hooker is a direct descendant of General Joseph "Fighting Joe" Hooker of the Civil War, who fought for the North, and who President Lincoln put in charge of the Army of the Potamic, the commander-in-chief of the Union's army. Fighting Joe provided his officers with women (first in the Mexican-American war), who became known as "Hooker's girls", later just shortened to "hookers"; and he is believed to be a descendant of Thomas Hooker, who sailed to America on the Mayflower. Candidate Hooker believes that love can only be freely given, never bought or sold, and thus would never approve of his illustrious ancestors' conduct.
