1. Personally, I'd start exercising more before starting to eat less

3. Stick with crumpet.
A little crumpet in the morning... A little crumpet in the afternoon... A little crumpet in the evening...

You'll either be in great shape in no time, or you'll be dead.

4. Going six hours without eating is not good.
Pace yourself. Exercise often and eat every two to four hours.

I could never go six hours without eating unless I was too ridiculously busy to have TIME to eat.

I'm hungry...and fortunately only about 1 1/2 hours until dinner.

Skipping the office get-together...which would undoubtedly include the consumption of cookies, to try to avoid eating things I shouldn't.

As to another poster saying 'exercise first'...well, if I could, I would. Ok, I'm CAPABLE of exercise, but don't have the time.

Working 2 jobs plus grad school...I barely have time to sleep, let alone exercise.

Thank you Mr. Bush for this wonderful economy. /sarcasm

6. Small meals featuring high proteinfoods
And remember that not all fats are bad. A handful (not a bowlful) of nuts is a great snack.

If you must eat grains, eat WHOLE grains.

Fruit is better than fruit juice, but still doesn't stay with you long. You'd do better w/ some nuts or cheese.

3 meals, 3 snacks. Watch your portions

7. You drinking lots of water?
That might help you worry about food less. Also most of the stuff you've listed is hi-carb/low protein. You might wanna add some protein in there which is often more "satisfying" long term than the carbs which burn away quickly.

Keep count of them calories and what you burn at the gym and, keep in mind you're in for the long haul!

Anyway - Hey HEyHEY, You came up on this thread yesterday...

I wanted ot know if you've seen that blue planet episode with the polar bear taking down the whale. It's amazing and I thought you 'd appreciate it.

Sorry to hijack the thread!

26. What's that some kinda slice o' pig?
Sounds protein-o-lific, but I'm a vegetarian, so I'm not sure.

Some low-carb protein supplements kinda keep you going as well. Mix 'em with some low fat milk and you're at about 400 calories and that really does keep you kinda satisfied for a while. I find sometimes that I forget to eat when I'm good about drinking 3 a day (I'm trying to gain weight myself).

Good luck!

13. THE FIRST THING YOU SHOULD DO...
is disregard all dieting information random people on a website give you.

go to a doctor and figure out the best way for you to get in shape/lose weight

only you know your body

otherwise i hear the all frozen yogurt diet works really well for a couple of weeks.

and is going to digest seriously fast. Eat more lowfat meat and vegetables and you will be more satisfied.

16. Please, forget about dieting...
... instead, check out Spinning if your gym offers it. In 2001-2002, I took off 60 pounds - 2+ pounds a week... And you can eat pretty much any damn thing you want. In order to lost weight, you MUST raise your metabolism. You can't do enough jogging or dancing (aerobics) to do it effectively... Spinning is the only thing that works reliably, in my experience...

25. Um...not all "aerobic" activity is "dancing."
Spinning IS an aerobic activity, but it certainly isn't for everyone.

In order to raise the metabolism, one must build and maintain lean muscle mass and reduce body fat. Spinning is only one of any number of effective ways to do so.
