Flame Fest - Subject: what you Americans call "football" is neither
You don't play with the feet (except 0.01% of the time), you play with the hands.

Also, balls are by definition spherical. That leather egg ain't a ball.

THIS is football.

8. Believe it or not, next summer
It seems like the last one was yesterday, but it's already been 2 1/2 years. I can't wait for '06, and am also a huge Brazil fan. The new qualifying thing for the defending champs is incredibly stupid, but shouldn't matter too much anyway.

9. Only wussies
play soccer. Only people with too much time on their hands would watch such a boring game. You know it's true.

10. Don't play with feet? Just because the "feet" in football don't
constantly strike the "ball" doesn't mean you don't play with feet! The ENTIRE game is played with feet, in fact a major point comes about when you are no longer on your feet and your knee, or butt or elbow hits the ground.

That's like saying in your "football" no one plays with arms.

Polk High School Football Rules!!

12. That has always bothered me.
It makes sense, that the game in that picture, is football, it's played with the feet, and what we Americans call football should be soccer. Or something..

13. Hmmm...technically what you are referring to also can not
be football. It should be called feetball since you use more than one foot.

Soccer: Worst. Sport. Ever.

Okay, it was fun when I played it but, like they say...When I became a man I put away childish things.

17. Yeah, I suppose it's "football"
But it's really, really, really dull to watch.

It also calls for a substantially narrower range of athletic and intellectual skills, is all tactics and no strategy, and is little more than the sports equivalent of an aerobic workout.

While American-style football requires strategy and tactics, hundreds of variations on approach, a precise and highly technical coordination of all players soccer doesn't come within a light year of, requires a of field-reading skill unequalled in any other sport, and fetures a dramatic momentum in the ebb and flow of play that can't be matched.

Feet-schmeet. And rugby balls aren't round either.

The most complex sport in the world.

I mean, what other sport requires a person to study hours of film every day to prepare for one game??
