It's way too long. I always need to check my spelling and it's hard to say when you're drunk...sometimes even sober.

What do you call someone from Massachusetts? A Massachusettsan? Probably not.

Your (wiseass) answers will be appreciated.

8. Oh, yeah, British Columbia is *such* a great name.
It's not British, and Christopher Columbus never came within 3000 miles of it! So there.

20. Dissing our Native American forebears, are you?
They came up with all these peculiar unspellable place names.

Once upon a time, National Lampoon ran a list of (spurious) translations of the indigenous place names. Most of them were said to mean things like "Over here" or "That way," but one was "Call it? We don't call it anything!"

In real life, of course, most of them were named after geographical features. If I remember right (not likely), the name "Massachusetts" had something to do with the hills in what is now known as Boston.

My favorite indigenous place name is "Manhattan," which translates to "The place where we all got drunk."
