Another reason to not fly Air Canada or fly period
http://www.aircanadaanimalabuse.com

Sad how flying with pets may be a gamble where there are "winners" and there are "losers." Luckily my Ginger (who went on to die of "old age" at 17 in 1988) was one of the "winners" when we moved with her from Toronto to Calgary nearly 30 years ago for she could be considered to be an "airliner animal compartment survivor."

That may be another good reason to insist on letting Rover or Tabitha fly in the cabin with you.

1. Never ever put your pet in cargo

Our dog should have frequent flier miles, she's flown so many times. Granted she's a 6-lb. Pomeranian. But once, flying on Delta, they made us put her under with cargo and of course, our flight was delayed getting out of Atlanta causing us to miss our connection in SLC. It was 1AM and there were demanding to get our dog out of cargo overnight (we had to stay in a hotel and catch a flight out of SLC the next afternoon). It was a real battle to get her out. After that I swore never again. And I've heard the horror stories, only compounding my resolve to never ever put her in cargo again.

3. Wonder what it would take for pet lovers to get the airlines to have more
concern for the well being of their animal companions, being prepared to add an interesting "wrinkle" to "anti - highjack highjinx," by leading any effort to fend off any new attempt on the part of boxcutter wielding bastards to take over their plane, should it come to that?????????????????????????????????????

4. Yes, airline industry treatment of traveling animals is disgraceful.
They regularly get away with stuff of that nature that's illegal under any other circumstance.

5. Maybe a symbol of protest in regards to a certain Canadian airline could
be a red, white and black ribbon, red and white as Air Canada's colors and black as a symbol of lamentation for the "losers" in the "pet - airline travel by Air Canada at least," gamble.
