27. I have found the ignore feature vital to my enjoyment of DU....

I've only ever put four people on ignore, in over three years on DU, and all four of them were tombstoned shortly afterward (although I'm convinced that one of them is back under a new nickname-- there is a characteristic style to that DUer's nastiness that is hard to miss. At any rate, in all four cases I was nearly to the edge of responding rudely or stupidly, so I put them on ignore. It helped temendously.

then i laughed and did it again, then figured out the fast way of getting through it and it doesn't bother me anymore.

It's going good. spent the weekend at a college dems conference and had a blast. Met lots of great people and have the satisfaction of knowing that democratic leaders will be reading some of what i had to say about the future of our party.

Actually, I had about four people on an ignore list after I first got here. They engaged in "newbie abuse" which I didn't take kindly and we had, how shall I say, "words." Anyway, after the election, I decided to take them all off. Since then, they show up and post answers to me that are friendly or agree with my point (or challenge it in an inoffensive way) and I compliment them back. Strange. The lesson: if you want to make friends with difficult people, ignore them then let them come back and suck up. Feels good!

one option I think moderators should consider would be a mutual ignore list. One which doesn't list those on ignore, but ignores all who put me on ignore. This would stop me from replying to posters who shall never read my posts, while giving me a general idea of how many DUers I'm insulting. This feature would be an on or off feature, allowing all who have me on ignore to remain anonymous.
