What is your favorite movie soundtrack?
I saw "The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou" and it had the best music I heard in years (esp. Search and Destroy). "Black Hawk Down" also had great tunes. "The Decline of Western Civilization" obviously had the best soundtrack.

Gimmie yours.

5. Das Boot
The original release soundtrack.

The original master tapes were destroyed before the director's cut was edited and released, and it's not as good as the original DVD or movie.

23. "Six-String Samurai" soundtrack...
Music by the Red Elvises.

Kickass rock and roll from Siberia!

SYNOPSIS:
"In 1962, the USSR launched a 'first strike' nuclear attack against the USA from its missile bases in Cuba, and followed its missiles with troops.

The two mighty Nations beat each other back into the Stone Age. The USSR won a Pyrrhic victory; with their nation bankrupt, their starving troops pretend to control a devastated North America.

Only one region resisted the Communist horde, and that single area remained the lone beacon of FREEDOM for 40 years.
For 40 years, those who loved the 'American Way' spoke its name with respect, and awe...

The name of the fabled 'Free City' is "Lost Vegas"; and the One True ELVIS is it's KING...

BUT NOW, after 40 years, the word goes out via shortwave: Wolfman Jack himself makes the official announcement: Elvis is dead, and Lost Vegas needs a new KING.

In a continent filled with hungry wandering guitar players, this might not seem like like a difficult position to fill...

until "DEATH" hisself decides that _HE_ wants the job."

OK, synopsis OVER....

Most times, "soundtracks" are just assemblages of backround noise.
"Six-String Samurai" is the most UNIFIED movie/soundtrack EVER!

Watch it/hear it...try to tell me I'm wrong.

41. "Alexander Nevsky" by Prokofiev
Some critics say it's the best ever.
It's a magnificent marriage between film and music. Prokofiev watched that day's shooting and wrote as he went along. The director, Eisenstein, would alter some of the film's editing to suit the music.
The preparation for the "Battle on the Ice" and the battle itself, with it's orchestral build, it's what makes it memorable.
I bought this soundtrack because I liked the film, I didn't expect it to change my entire perspective on music and introduced me to a love affair with 20th century classical.

Mary Queen of Scots, and all the Harry Potters.
Oh, and I love Theme from a Summer Place.

Those are all the movie scores -- no words, just music.
I like to listen as I write.
I create CD's for each character -- to fit the personality.
Makes it easy to focus.

Okay, just what I do.
