Asking for good karma for my son
a Marine now back in Iraq. He's a liberal, like his parents and twin sister (who is secretary of the Young Democrats at her college and an activist for many liberal causes).
As a family, we don't support the war in Iraq. We do support our son. I realize this is a difficult concept for some DUers. Being the parent (or spouse, girlfriend, boyfriend, friend or sibling...) of a soldier serving in Iraq is a difficult position. Particularly if you're not a Bush supporter.
My son says his mission in Iraq is to protect his fellow Marines. I imagine that sentiment is generally what soldiers in all wars feel -- more so than the politics or the stated "Operation Iraqi Freedom."
Thanks in advance for your prayers, good thoughts, and good karma on his behalf. Someday soon, he and his buddies will be back and many will be joining us at DU.

5. Good karma, prayers and hopes on the way right now.
I don't support the war either, but I support the troops. I hope he comes home safe and soon. It must be a very scary situation for you... so I'll be adding a few prayers for you and your family as well as your son.

Khash.

7. Best wishes to your son and your family...
may he be kept well and out of harm's way. It's not a hard concept for me, soldiers don't have a choice but to do what they are told to do...

anyway ..

all I wanted to say is Best Wishes!!

12. we wish him well and hope he is safe
it is kinda ironic that he is vilified by the right wing as being a traitor to his country because he is a liberal yet he is over there because it is his duty and his duty to protect his fellow soldiers..

13. I live next to a military base.
I totally subscribe to the thought of "Support the troops but not the war". I will say a prayer (if that is ok) for him.
