1. During the day....
take the St. Charles streetcar down into the Garden district. Get off at Louisiana and turn left and walk a few blocks over to Magazine. Sit down and enjoy a beverage at the number 1 best coffee shop in the world then walk slowly back up magazine until you reach the werehouse district. Enjoy rest of the day.

2. there's a pizza shop
outside of the french market across from the old N.O. mint, very original recipes - makes papa johns look like potted meat - sit outside, have a beer, order two pizza's, enjoy life. i recommend everything but the roasted garlic pizza - don't try it unless you want stinkpits for a month.

4. Go to Mother's on Tchapitoulas and Poydras
Edited on Thu Feb-24-05 11:37 PM by SmileyBoy
They have the BEST gumbo and po-boys in the city.

I swear they melt a big heaping rock of crack in the gumbo pot while they make it.

There's a daquiri place on Bourbon Street that kicks ass, also. It'll have a big "DAQUIRI" sign on it.

I went to Nawlins this past New Years, and I'd definitely go there again, if I had the chance.

5. Eat at Irene's on Chartres, and Maspero's on Decatur...
Irene's has fabulous soft-shell crab and Maspero's offers plates piled high with the finest fried oysters known to men. Petunias onSt Louis has great crepes and, across the street, the Hermann-Grima house offers tour of a fabulous 1820's antebellum mansion. Ride the streetcar through the Garden District, visit the Audabon Zoo, and check out the antiques on Royale.

Mostly, let the good times roll!

6. Also, Felix's Oyster House on Bourbon Street has kick-ass jambalaya.
It's a little pricey, though.

7. Mike Anderson's Seafood on Bourbon - GREAT food and people!
I was just in NO last week. Going with 200 co-workers was definitely a lesson in restraint. Oh wait, no it wasn't.

Bourbon Street brings out a whole 'nother side of people. Good times...

9. Cafe du Monde
is a must.

If you like shrimp, try Bubba Gump's. Landry's is great too.

Jimmy's Buffet's Margaritaville is another neat restaurant.

And you haven't experienced New Orleans unless you've done Bourbon Street on a Saturday night.
