1. You could always have some deep-fried twinkies
or deep-fried Oreos.

After that then you wouldn't feel so bad about starchy vegetables.

2. I'm looking forward to the home-grown tomatoes
that my friend gives me. The ones in the grocery store have no flavor, in comparison.

The real reason I'm responding to this thread is because of the kitties! I love them! What precious photos! Thanks for sharing.:D

5. Poor old Skunkie spent the night at the vets..
Edited on Thu Jul-17-03 12:58 AM by SoCalDem
He is a neat freak when it comes to his "bathroom habits", but yesterday morning he went into the pet bed, and right in front of me , peed..(or tried to). I shoooed him out and wnet to see if he had actually taken a leak in the kitty bed, adn there was a little bloody spot.. Poor guy has a bladder infection..

If he had not done that, I might not have seen the blood.. A pretty smart kitty, no??

So now we have to figure out how to give him 2 pills a day..:(.. He does not like to be held or touched.. :(..

It's gonna be interesting..

I am so glad that it was not something more serious.. He's getting up there in years.. 9..

7. Poor little guy! I will send positive thoughts his way
My beloved cocker spaniel, Barney, had a urinary tract infection this time last year. Someone had a wetting accident and there was blood in it, but I couldn't tell at first which of my two dogs it was. Barney was my second choice because he wasn't housebroken until I adopted him at age 10 and he was always so very good about it. He had a second accident and I got him to the vet just before they closed. Anyway, I know what this is like. You are fortunate that he let you know and caught it early.:-)

He is not such an old kitty. My little nearly-feral girl whom I rescued from harsh winter weather 1 1/2 years ago I'm told is 13. She was doing quite well, amazingly enough, but I am so grateful I was able to bring her inside. She needs to go back to the vet for her annual shots and dental work, but I'm waiting for my friend, who has caught cats for the ASPCA, to return from a camping trip and come into my house to catch her for me. I have tried and it is just too hard on both of us.
:scared:

As for giving him pills? Do you have a pill crusher? That's what my vet suggested for my beloved Rhiannon. I pulverized the pills, mixed them in baby food, which he said was very safe for her, and fed this to her in a syringe. She was an extremely cooperative cat, however. For others, I have asked for liquid medicine, as it is so much easier.

3. That and summer fruits
My garden gave me tomatoes all year long this year, so I haven't craved them like I usually do! I am right there with ya though...the corn this time of year is so sweet sometimes I don't even bother to cook it! It's good raw!
