What a colossal mistake for me. I once had ambitions of being a person, but I am now an official Stupid Little Wife and Mother.

Also, the kid thinks this is a first-class hotel. I just told him that if his favorite shirt is dirty, tough luck: pick one of two dozen others.

8. Empathy and sypathy.
Been there, still there, working through it. How come kids are soooo lazy and husbands think that wives are a combination of secretary, maid of all work, chief bottle-washer, child-minder, luandress, chef, house cleaner, sex provider, supplementary wage earner, etc., and that they are more than doing their share when they occasionally take out the garbage???

You're absolutely right.... it only gets harder and harder. First time I quit I was only 24, now it's been off and on for ten years. I'm not getting any younger... but I'm also not making any pronouncements here :) I quit yesterday and I might start tomorrow, but for today I don't smoke.

...and thanks!

32. Thanks! And absolutely, DO NOT do it...
after the eight years smoking, I had ONE cigarette at a party... then a week later, ONE cigarette at dinner, then a week later, and so on, until I was buying them after a particularly stressful thing or another... there will always be some excuse... so don't put yourself there.

46. Did You Really Quit?
I'm very proud of you! Try the patch... that's what worked for me. The sticky wouldn't hold all to my arm for the full day, so I started putting the patch on my ankle and just let my socks hold them in place. (Hey... skin is skin. It worked.)

Write me if you need support or tips or just to tell me what you're feeling like. It was the toughest thing I've ever done... but one thing I'm glad I did do. (We're coming up on three years smoke-free now! That 3x52x2x$45.00 a carton = $14,040.00 NOT spent on cigarettes between the two of us.)

47. Yes.... Approaching 48 hours now... not a puff..
I do have some patches from the last time I quit, but they bother my skin... the gum bothers my tummy... and the inhalor is just nasty. It does offer some perspective to consider that I could save enough for a new car over a few years... yikes.

I appreciate the support, Allen!! I feel better this morning already. :)

50. Same Here...
... the patches would make my skin feel a little tingly and warm. At first, I looked FORWARD to that sensation, because I knew that the patch was starting to kick-in. (Kinda like when I was having a nicotine craving and I would look forward to the burning sensation of feeling the smoke in the back of my throat when I'd take the first big long draw of a freshly lit cigarette. I anticipated that feeling even though it was slightly unpleasant because I knew what the reward was about to be.)

If you read the booklet that comes with the patch, gum, & mints... the mental exercises and breathing exercises sound silly... but they do help. Keeping a written list of REASONS you want to quit helps. Before giving up, read you top ten list out loud... and you get over the that urge.

The thing that helped me most was to BRAG on myself as often as anyone would listen. The encouragement from others really REALLY helped. Also, my desire NOT to disappoint everyone who had faith in me was a big help as well.

I'm cheering for ya Karen... hang in there. It only takes 2 minutes to overcome any single urge! There will be many 2 minute battles, but each one gets easier and easier, and they grow further and further apart.

16. I am angry at the world
I recently admitted this to a couple other people. This is a big step for me because anger is probably my most repressed emotion.
Why am I angry at the world? I have such high ideals, which I find hard to keep myself. I work as hard as I can, I care as much as I can, and I work to develop all that is good in me. Despite this, neither my ideal are realized nor am I personally rewarded. A***holes like Bush snd his friends, along with a**holes from my personal life who don't care about anyone but themselves get rewarded. Greed and conformity are becoming the new values, values which I despise. As for me, I am just a piece of machinery and a potential future babymaker. My ideals don't mean anything. My anxiety rises as I think that if I just worked harder, cared more, or was a better person, that things would be different. Then it occurred to me that it wouldn't so what I am just going to be myself and that's going to have to be good enough for everyone and everything. The world is just going to have to save itself.

I think that I wil feel better when I really accept that it is alright to just be me and to be proud of that no matter what anyone else thinks or what the consequences of that are. High ideals will follow. I just need to chill for now.

I'm a moderator at a Nationstates RP forum, and today, I basically had my balls handed to me. I up a member's warning level for breaking a rule, he goes bitching to the admin and another mod, he gets my actions against him reversed, and now I get threatened, yelled at, and my warning level raised. Then I gave up my mod priveleges.

Edited on Mon Feb-21-05 06:35 PM by the Princess
As a child I was:

Sexually abused
Verbally physically and phsychologically abused by dear old mom and dad
My sister abused me
I was bullied and picked on as a kid cause I was fat
I had ADD and Dyslexia - both undiagnosed and took way too much shit from family for being *stupid*

As an adult:

I was in an abusive relationship for a year
I was raped
I seemed to attract men who are *not right* (hubby not included in that - I guess I got it right that time)
As a woman I am still considered a second class citizen
As a woman I still don't make as much money as any man
Rape is still used to keep women in line
People will still laugh and be verbally abusive to me because I am still fat.

Our Goverment lies to us
Our food is killing us
The war
Children every day are being abused by someone
Women every day are being raped by someone
Men still think it is their God given right to be *in charge*
I'm living in Fucking Colorado and I HATE IT!!!

Oh I could go on and on and on and on - why shouldn't I be pissed off???????????????????????????????????????????????

If you don't want secondhand smoke, go to a fucking smoke free establishment and leave the other places be.

Wheteher smoking is allowed in a bar or restaraunt is the owner's perjorative, not the city's.

Fucking BreatheFree wankers.

Not to mention that some dickhead has been vandalizing my anti smoking ban signs on my door for weeks now.

Not to mention that my dumbass roommate constantly uses the words "faggot" and "nigga" in his everyday speech.
