Do You Use a Pseudonym In Real Life?
I'll admit I do for my creative work, but unlike Mr "Gannon" I keep the same first name but shorten my last name so that it's easier to pronounce!

"Gannon" is giving us pseudonym users a bad name!

1. My phone number is listed under an assumed name. . .
for privacy reasons, of course.

9. Mine was at one time
It was under the name "Y. Smith" (not really Smith but it was the initial "Y"). One day when I had a phone company rep on the line, she asked me what the "Y" stood for - I told her it was for Yahoo. "My parents were very happy when I was born." She wasn't sure what to say to that - it was fun.

12. Funny....we get calls asking for
John Smith. The other day, just to see who was cold calling, my other half said that he was John...then then start going off about a student loan that needs paying. He then says, wait, that's not really my name. He would only give them his first name, explained that we are listed that way for privacy, but the woman wouldn't believe him.

2. I guess I do.
I have a nickname, given at birth by a hospital nurse, that's still with me 63 years later.

OK, I know you're gonna ask.
After I was cleaned up, she brought me in to my mother and said "Here's your little Butch".
It was a popular slang nicknname for little boys back then.

5. Yes, I sometimes do
I have one email account under an assumed name which is the same name I sometimes use for bits of writing. I don't use it to misrepresent, however, just for anonymity.

I also use a pseudonym when I go to any place (like Jamba Juice) where you give your name to be called out when your order is ready. My real first name a somewhat unusual and they never spell or pronounce it correctly so I always tell them my name is "Kate". It takes a real moran to get that one wrong.

10. I used to have a phone listing under a male first name and my last
name when I was single. If someone called looking for "M _ _ _ _ _" I knew they were a telemarketer (prior to caller ID). I did it for security reasons and because everyone knows that a woman is likely to use an initial instead of a feminine first name.

11. For awhile I was going to use the name "Theopholous Punnoval,"
but the right project for that one never came along.

Why that crazy name? Say it slowly...

13. As a hairstylist at Penney's, I went by Paula because there was already
another Laura....and they didn't want to confuse our appts. To this day, I still look up when someone shouts Paula. :hi:
