Los Angeles Hailstorm!? WTF?
We just got hail here and some major thunderstorm action...

Reminds me of South Louisiana rain.

All I need now is a blackout and some company!!

;-)

2. I used to think that back home when it would storm really bad
They don't have real thunder here in Cali. Strange.

Now I like it when it rains.

3. It calmed down
It's pretty unusual, since the weather has been relatively nice the last few days. The hail lasted for a couple of minutes out here in Culver City - I could hear our neighbours outside going "DAAAAANNNNG!", along with some distant car alarms.

Stay safe.

4. Thanks, I'm chillin... but now I'm up!!
Why does everthing in L.A. have to close at 2AM?

In New Orleans we didn't start gettin ready to roll out until midnite.

7. I don't have the answer to that, but
You're lucky if it's even 2AM. In the city I grew up in, most of the businesses would close at around 10PM. Incidentally, it's a rather right-wing, semi-elitist town; I'm assuming the early closing times were made as a conscious decision to keep "derelicts" (meaning anyone under 30) off the streets.

Basically, if you get hungry at 10:02, and there's nothing in the fridge, you're pretty much screwed until daybreak.

10. Fun: Film at 11.
Sure, if Happy Hour involves downing a couple of shots of Metamucil and then wheeling slowly back to your retirement home.

5. What? It doesn't hail in LA?
I've been in a hailstorm in Phoenix before. That was cool.

8. Rarely with a capital "R"

The incidents are so few and far between that my family still discuss "That Hailstorm Back in 1994". It lasted for about five minutes, and the chunks were the size of golfballs, according to local legend.

12. Yep, this year's rain is supposed to be the worst in Los Angeles history..
I can't even imagine.

Knock wood, the roof is holding up and the house is above street grade and we're on flat land. What more (crossing fingers) can a homeowner ask for?
