Now I know for a fact that, residence life at my school is evil...

Not only have they put my family and me through hell the last month (I had a screaming match with my dad on the phone last night because of it). I go down there this afternoon and the guy I have to see regarding my situation has a Bush/Cheney 04 sticker on his door. Unless it was a joke, I know now that that office is the spawn of Satan!

1. How did the residence staff cause you and your father to fight
you don't know me, but I'm curious.

2. basically it had to do with money...
and the fact that they had no record of me living on campus, despite the fact that I checked in at the same time as everyone else in my place. They screwed up royally and then they were total assholes to us.

4. That seems to be the "conservative" mind-set
your complaining is worse than their screw-up, why do you have to be so mean as to remind them of it by asking them to rectify it?

I once had a college Republican tell me I was only liberal because that was the "cool" thing to do. I didn't say it, but what I was thinking was "yeah and growing up poor and daily contrasting my experience to the children of rich people who did not actually "earn" that beamer they are driving had nothing to do with it."

3. the residence people here are pretty cool
they go through hell to get you your roommate choice, and hand-match new roommates based on personalities and music likes, etc. Hopefully, just that one guy was an asshole :)

5. It's pretty much the whole department...
I had troubles (and I heard stories of others) especially this summer because I needed housing for pre-season and the place we were supposed to be in wasn't completely built yet. The douche bag had no sympathy for my situation and told me the university wasn't responsible for my housing before school starts (even though I had to be there otherwise I'd flunk out of my major). So I basically spent that time sleeping on my friend's couch, thanks to them. I wouldn't be so bitter about it but everyone there has a major attitude any time you grace their "holy and divine presence"

7. we basically had a revolt...
this all stemmed from the fact that our housing wasn't complete on time, in fact it still isn't. We were supposed to be in 4 or 6 person townhouses (each room would have been a single) but because they hired a bogus company to do the job. It won't be completed until next year, so I'm stuck doubled up in a single room (which sucks!) and we have 8 people trying to share one refrigerator...etc. The residents formed an association and took our grievances to the dean, he allowed a forum where we could voice our opinions, and now they are being addressed. We are getting another fridge, some parking tickets will be taken away and others. The best part about it is our refund, originally we were only going to get $200 but because the students rebelled, we are getting back anywhere from $1,000 to $2,800! (I'm getting back 2,800 because of several variables)
