Who in here has had a "Brazilian" wax?
Went to the day spa today with a friend of mine (I'm a dude) to make our appointments for tomorrow and when reading the list of treatments offered to men, I saw "Brazilian Wax" listed. I asked my friend if it was worth it and she raved about how "awesome" it was and how "clean" you feel. Is this procedure as painful as it sounds? My friend signed up for one and she urged me too, but I don't quite know if I'm that brave. lol...

Has a man in here braved this treatment? :P

11. Clean feeling?
Yeah, well, if you never learned how to wipe properly, I guess the notion of getting necessary hair - it's there for a reason, you know - ripped out is appealing.

There really are other ways to get dommed.

Then, when it starts growing out, you get that lovely stubble-and-itch thing, with accompanying bumps and scratches.

All this to appeal to a fantasy of being a prepubescent girl who can screw.

I sometimes wonder about women. I really do.

14. Don't knock the fantasy
Don't knock the fantasy of being a pre-pubescent girl who can screw. If there were more women who were into it, the pre-pubescent girls of the world might have one less thing to worry about.

There are better things for girls to do than worry about pedophiles -- like learning how to smoke, and backsass, and show how sexy they are by hanging around in malls and doing nothing.

I'd say you might be preoccupied with stereotypes, as well. The notion that someone wants to get rid of hair 'that is there for a reason' because they can't stay clean if they don't... yeah, let's just say, that's not necessarily the reason, nor the desire to impersonate a pre-pubescent.

57. You're taking it too literally
It may have been a little too subtle, but I made two other posts to this thread, one of which was utterly over-the-top.

I don't consider pubic hair waxing to be a very serious subject. I find pedophilia to be very disturbing but I'm also not too happy with the huge quantity of the "kill the pedos" posts on DU. And as for one's sexual preferences, consensual=sacred.

Shaving is cheaper. I don't do it for the reason you suggest either. Let's just say that women have messier things to be concerned with - especially once a month. Bare is easier to keep clean.

12. The major question is
WHY?

Have a shower if you want to feel 'clean'

You wouldn't rip out all the hair on your head!

Why do it there?

21. I would love get one if I had the money to spend on it...
Even better would be to get the hair removed permanently. I've tried the do-it-yourself wax, and it just doesn't work well at pulling out the hairs.

I find pubic hair to be so annoying. Shaving always leaves those little red bumps. The appeal of the wax is that you don't have the red bumps, and it takes longer for the hair to grow back. Supposedly, the hair doesn't grow back as thick either.

38. That's true.
It doesn't grow back anywhere near as thick when you wax. I'm with you I hate those red bumps from shaving. I don't experience that with waxing. Waxing lasts three weeks.
There is a tea tree creme based wax from gigi along with the warmer that works really, really well for at home. Use the numbing spray and it's easy.

I hear you about the permanent. I guess there is laser but I haven't looked into it that much to see how well it works.

I just tried the Nair sugaring wax. It didn't work very well at all. I ended up with a rash because it took to many rips to pull the hair off.

13. But it's hip, it's happenin'!
Considering that millions of people in the Civilized World just live to be spanked, tatooed, whipped, pierced, branded, tortured with hot fluids and electrical devices, and otherwise suffer physical torment for the chance to "break on through to the other side," the mania for waxing comes as no surprise.

It is one of the more painful areas to get waxed, but it's over quick. I've been in more pain from cramps...but then I've had to go to emergency on more than one occasion for them...and I've also passed out. I've never cried when having anything waxed.

51. The Tech: A Man's Approach to Manly Depilation
(WARNING: Contains sexist material. But it’s also funny. So choose yer poison.)

-------

Men, if you’re serious about depilating your Manly Area(s) without being reduced to the shameful tears of a woman, you need a Man’s approach to the problem.

You need a Tech.

A woman takes the pain, and weeps, and thanks her Lord for permitting her the luxury of toiling another day. A Man finds a Solution, Solves the Problem, and invents (and subsequently patents) a TECH.

For waxing na modo Brasiliero, the Tech will involve a few separate, but indispensible parts.

First, you need something to open the pores of the hairs up. You need to open ‘em wide, like thirty thousand horny cheerleaders doing leg-ups on a giant field of grass.

The time-honored pore-opener is heat. Hot compresses on the area will open those pores up in a jiff. Hot wax does the same thing, but you want to make sure that what’s open stays open. At the salon, pre-heat your Manly Mound of Mars with a washcloth or small towel that has been soaked with water as hot as you can tolerate it.

Tool number two: An orally-active painkiller. Alcohol is the traditional potation of the bold, hard-living, carefree Meninos sem cérebros do Brasil, but the more civilized palate of the urban executive Alpha Male may demand nothing less than pharmaceutical oxycodone hydrochloride. One 5 mg. Percocet® brand analgesic tablet per 80 pounds of body weight ought to do the trick. If you want to live close to the edge, make that dose one per 150 pounds and top it off with a classy beer, like Samuel Adams or Anchor Steam. Your waxeuse may be impressed enough to arrange one or more private after-wax check-ups.

And if you’re one of those rare Manly Men who can take it au naturel, you deserve a blow job from the entire staff, at the very least.

The third tool in the box of Masculine Depilation Tech is local anesthetic. Benzocaine and Lidocaine solutions and cremes are widely available. A 10% benzocaine solution is the gold standard for numbing out a patch of skin. Soak some into a length of paper towel or a few “surgical sponges” (actually squares of sterile cloth), put it in contact with the skin, overlayer with some Saran® Wrap or other plastic sheeting, then apply a new hot washcloth/towel. It will take 5-20 minutes for the benzocaine to sink in.

Thirty minutes after pre-treating with the Percs, the benzocaine, the hot compresses and the special (but optional) Neuro-Linguistic Programming Mind Control CDs you brought along for some extra mental muscle, your combat zone will be ready for action. You should be numb locally and globally.

The final component of the Tech is a bullet. It’s for you to bite on. If you’re persnickety about your teeth, you can substitute a non-metal object. A cigar is Manly, but does not offer much resistence to your bite; a hunk of well-seasoned oak, poplar, or polyethylene is to be preferred.

At this point, give your depilatory technicienne the pre-arranged signal.

The wax is poured and lovingly sculpted to conform to the root of your Manhood as wide-weft cloth is worked into the cereous mass. It cools a little, stiffens, as your waxeuse performs her own mental preparation, recalling (as vividly as she can) the time that guy from the States told her that he was a producer for Girls Gone Wild and got her drunk and did things to her that would bring shame to her family.

At the peak of concentration, acting on the flawlessly imprinted years, perhaps weeks of experience, she executes her most graceful arranco dos cabelos ondulados; then voilà!, the deed is done.

You are now as nude as a little boy, yet you remain All Man. And the women, well, the women will swoon and clamor for your presence in the quarto do prazeres sem cuidados.

Just as soon as you can be scraped off of the ceiling.

52. Nope
I'm a woman though. I don't know of any man who would in all honesty. I think it might even lead to bleeding in the scrotal area. There is a very small layer of skin and it's heavily vascular. Not something I'd recommend for a man because of those factors. If I'm correct, those things just leave a very tiny little landing strip sort of line for women, so I'm not sure for men (bald?). I've had waxing done before, but just more of a general thing getting rid of anything that could excessively pop out of a swimsuit kind of thing. I doubt I'd do it again because everywhere on me grows quickly so to have that done (even to pay for it) and have it only last a week and a half really isn't worth it. Buy a good razor, change the blade often, exfoliate prior, and moisturize. That helps with irritation if one chooses to shave partially or completely or whatever.

As for clean, showering works wonders. That shouldn't have anything to do with "hairstyle".

I'm not a big fan of hair. At all. Even when I'm single (which is how it is currently). I'm just not so sure I can handle the pain. :D I don't see it as a "clean" thing nor as a prepubescent girl (wtf was THAT comment all about?!), it's about how comfortable I am with my body. For me, I'm just more comfortable without it. Let us know how it goes! :D

62. As soon as someone can tell me the advantages
of being bald "from butt to front" (as the spa lady told me where the Brazilian wax is done), I'll think about it.

But that's likely all I'll do.

I've used a razor. Completely. The growing back was NOT fun. And I didn't even particularly like it right off the bat, either.

I just don't think it's for everyone. I don't like a jungle-ey look, but bald? No thanks.

64. What do you do with the Legs then?
So if a guy gets this done. What do we do with the other hairy parts?

(If they skipped the Scrotum might think about it. Otherwise, you have got to be kidding! That skin ain't strong enough for waxing IMHO)

66. personally
from a this male's perspective pubic hair on women is totally erotic and arousing. We are adults and it is part of adulthood and maturity. The bald or landing strip look is a real turn off. I trim my beard so it doesn't look all scraggly/wooley but neat. We should do a poll on this one on how people feel about it. I think pubic hair is sexy, but then I am just one man.
