a heavy metal band made up of guys from my high school who looked like they belong in that movie, a pretty good macabre story about a murder among a group of high school stoners. Dennis Hopper is great in it. Also, Keanu Reeves and Crispin Glover. Great ensemble cast.

After the Polanski (?) movie.

Original bassist Chris Fujiwara was an absolute cinema fiend. He's now writing a book, and he does freelance film reviews for the Boston Phoenix. And there are film references all over their stuff-- for example, "Father Silence" is a character in an obscure Japanese film. (There are also references to other arts: "Utopia Parkway" was the street that Joseph Cornell lived on.)

Appropriately enough, Cul de Sac's latest is a film soundtrack, to an indie movie called "The Strangler's Wife." It's pretty good.
