Quinoa
I heard that this was healthy to eat so when I saw it in the grocery store yesterday, I thought that I'd try it even though it was kind of expensive compared to the more common grains. What goes well with it. I was thinking of cooking it with chicken, garlic, mushroom, and some other veggies. Does anyone else eat this? Do you have any recipe or other serving suggestions?

1. I've had it in restaurants
I forget with what. I've got a container of it that I've been trying to use for a while but I don't know how best to do so. You could do worse than the chicken, garlic, etc, I would think.

2. Use in place of flour
When I'm being good about being off of wheat, I use quinoa in place of the flour in recipes. Use it in cream sauces, etc.

I have a recipe for an applesauce cake that calls for it, and have been meaning to try it.

You can also go to quinoa.net and they have some recipes on their site.

5. I'm talking about ground quinoa
Sounds like others here are talking about the whole grain - I haven't come across that yet but will keep an eye out for it. Always looking for alternatives to wheat!

3. We use it
wherever you might use rice -- as a side dish, filler kind of thing. I know there are lots of other uses, though.

Don't forget to rinse it, but good before you start! And don't skimp on stock!
