*Another* locally owned coffee shop opens in my hood. Sigh.

That makes four. My neighborhood is now a Coffee Mecca. New coffee havens are becoming mundane. Within walking distance I have:

Stella's - good coffee, been there forever.
Khaladi Bros. - decent coffee, lousy service.
Pearl Street Cafe - a little yuppie for our tastes.
And now - a new place is opening just up the street from Stella's. Don't know many details, just heard it on the coffee-vine.

This is in addition to two Starbucks and a Peaberry's that I can walk to. Seven coffee cafe's within walking distance of my house. Seven. And if I wanted to drive to a coffee place, I'm embarrassed to say how many different coffee places I could sample within 3 miles of my house.

Perhaps it is that I am a coffee magnet! :D

...they're locally owned. The people sucking the dollars out of you have a vested interest in your community, as opposed to the ones that don't :evilgrin:

about Starbucks - it takes away the guilt. ;)

I have a dilemma about them - yes, they take away business from local shops... but would they be able to do that if they didn't have the BEST coffee. I think that's different from WalMart undercutting everyone's prices while underpaying their employees.
