Limbaugh Says ESPN Encouraged Him To Become More "Edgy"

Rush Limbaugh claimed Monday that ESPN had encouraged him to become more controversial in his commentaries on Sunday NFL Countdown and that he was only trying to satisfy them when he commented on the air that the news media have overrated Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb because he is black. "After the first couple of weeks, there were some people who said, 'Your essays aren't edgy enough, '" Limbaugh said on his syndicated radio show Monday. He also maintained that none of the ESPN executives and former colleagues on the show who have criticized his remarks publicly have done so personally. "Nobody has had one thing to say to my face that they are saying when I'm not around," he remarked.

So Rush really wasn't trying to start up a stink about the whole black quarterback/media issue - he was just trying to please his bosses at ESPN.

That man is so full of shit he could fill the Grand Canyon with just one trip to the bathroom

4. I heard differently
The other guys on the program claim that Lardass was always saying 'keep politics out of it' They claim that when he spouted off they were caught looking because they werent expecting any political stuff. Maybe they were set up by the execs who hired the pig inna first place, the same ones who were saying 'but our ratings are up!' when people started to complain about the racist garbage.

6. Sigh...whatta "moran"!
Is it incomprehensible to the bloviating windbag cystboy that it is possible to be "edgy" or even controversial without being overtly offensive? In other words, why not be controversial about your opinions about the GAME instead of being a racist, sexist, homophobic asswipe?

Man's a useless, noisy sack of monkeyshit, if ya ask me.

7. Still

No apology for his insensitive remarks...

No remorse or concern that he may have caused a certain amount of anguish for McNabb?

8. Oh, I have no doubt that ESPN wanted him to be controversial --
perhaps they even 'pressured' him, although I can't imagine that he felt it as pressure. But it was Rush who was controversial by being racist. And that was NOT the kind of controversial that ESPN wanted. Rush did it to himself. For that matter, by hiring Rush, ESPN did it to itself.
