I just donated $35 to DU and "donated" $73 to the US National Park service
I got a damned speeding ticket on the Blue Ridge Parkway yesterday.

My wife and I had just left her folks' place and were on a 3-4 mile stretch of the parkway to get to our route home. While we were talking about the weekend (went to ex-sister in law's wedding) and she was getting situated in the car and what appears as we go over a hill but a park ranger. I wasn't really paying attention to the speed-I rarely speed on the USNP parkways Blue Ridge or Colonial- I look down and I am going 63 MPH in a 45. DAMN!

The ranger just slowed down to turn around and I quickly pulled over. He came up to the passengers side window (too close to the parkway to stand on my side) I had my license, insurance card, and registration in my hands on the steering wheel. I told him what happened but forgot to mention that my wife was PREGNANT over and over. He said he understood and would "write it down" for me. He wrote it down to 61 MPH. A $73 fine.

GREAT! just freaking great a 3-4 mile stretch of road and I get a stupid speeding ticket.

I loved the questions too:

Have you had any alcohol to drink last night or this morning (12 Noon on a Sunday)? No.
Do you have any drugs in the car? No
Do you have any weapons in the car? No

Like someone is going to fess up to any of those. :eyes: I know he has to ask and it is a sticky situation walking up to a car whether in the daytime or not.

I told my wife as we pulled off that that guy is probably going to get his job "privatized" if things go as they plan.

Is armageddon next?

I seriously have never seen any on there - and I go AFAIC on the Parkway.

Guess I'll watch out from now on...

3. Too bad about the ticket...
hopefully the pain was diminished when you gave to DU tho', right?

(I just finished donating myself when I read your post)

On another related issue - so let me see if got this straight - recent cutbacks in domestic spending that resulted in rollbacks in the Park Services still allow for more cops on the Prkwy - yeah, that figures.

Reminds me of a bumper sticker I just saw, "I love my country, but am afraid of my government".

cheers
