Poll question: A facial hair question for shaving deficient Duers...
Should I challenge all DUers to a longest beard contest?
Bump this up, please. :-)

1. Hey, c'mon guys! Who voted: "There are women on DU with longer beards?"

2. Other
I am one of those "children", referred to in #8, on DU with a beard, or used to have one... I don't care for the look, I was just lazy over the summer, it happens to people my age... I can grow 'em with the best though. I think it would be interesting to have a longest beard contest.

3. Do you have any pictures of you when you had your beard?
As many people as we have on this board we probably have some good ones among us. :)

6. no...
I was sailing last summer and did not take a camera with me... I am upset I did not take any because I can't grow it out this summer, too many formal things to let me get past the "shaggy" look.

7. Woo hoo! Where'd you go sailing? It's too bad you can't grow it out...
...this summer. My first year to try was the fall and winter of 1969. I was stationed in Alaska and our Major told us to go for it. I was twenty-three by then.

8. I live on the Chesapeake bay
so either you like the water or you move out. I spent a couple of weeks cruising the bay. I was on a 40 footer. I love the sport to death and go when ever I can.

9. I know the feeling. I'm on Galveston Bay...
I've had a Bahama Islander and a Sunfish in past years. I loved both of them. I'd like to pick up another one this year and spend a few weeks up and down the coast.

10. I love the feeling
Sail is its own sport, nothing is like it. It is just you and mother nature and two sheets of canvas. I remember the first time we cut the motor off, and first sailed. It is a one of a kind feeling, I am planing a few weekend trips this spring and summer, maybe even a trip up to New York... More like though is a southern trip since SCUBA diving is more likely in the Carolinas then New York.

11. I hope you get to plan some long trips. I'm retired, so I could stash...
...a few hundred in cash on a boat, take a credit card and just go. I'd love to tack westward toward Corpus Christi until I tired of it then run back with the wind. :)

4. Feh, competitions divide us
Why not revel in each individuals own beauty?

12. I think you should
I'd grow one if I could, but I can't grow a full beard (only chin whiskers) or the "connector" between a mustache and goatee, and since I don't think a goatee by itself works on me I stay clean-shaven. Oh well, I may still be young enough that my facial hair will fill out eventually, but I have my doubts.

13. Sometimes they will fill in. I was lucky in that I can grow a full one...
...but I'm so rough with it it thins out as it gets longer. It's close to 18 inches at its longest now.
