Let us praise bacon, lovely bacon.
Edited on Fri Feb-11-05 09:17 AM by Padraig18
Just finished eating breakast, and the 'main attraction' was some lovely bacon we buy at our local Amish grocery store; it's 'home killed', as they say here, meaning that it's raised and processed locally. It's MUCH leaner than the stuff you find in the meat case of your typical chain grocery store, has a lovely smoky flavor and it's actually sliced thickly enough that you can't read a newsaper through it. DEE-licious!

There are certain advantages to living in rural America, and the ability to buy GOOD meat and garden-fresh produce is one of them.

:D

1. I love bacon!!! yummy!!! Can I come over?
MrG loves it when I make him a bacon, green pepper, scallion, mushroom, tomato and cheese omelet. I agree with you on those advantages!

Hope you are well and feeling stronger!

4. Hiyas, loveliness!
I'm doing MUCH better now, and fighting off boredom is my biggest hassle these days. How are you doing?

11. Me too, on the loneliness part. I think I am finally on the right path.
It was difficult to not get up and do things, but then MrG threatened to tie me down. :) Now I'm kind of getting used to him doing the dishes, cleaning the bathrooms etc...:)

19. Same here.
My first reaction to being told not to lift anything heavier than a milk jug was 'You've got to be kidding!', but I'm getting used to it--- don't like it, but getting used to it.

:)

2. Well, I prefer sausage myself, but here's to bacon!
:toast:

PS - there's no such thing as a sausage, lettuce, and tomato sandwich, is there?

3. Yes
Bacon is the food of the gods. I can eat a pound of it at a time. I know it will kill me, but at least I will die with a belly full of bacon.

15. A moment of weakness.
Edited on Fri Feb-11-05 09:27 AM by Padraig18
Actually, Tony's been quite ill for about 4 days and not eating well, so this morning I asked him what I could fix that would taste good to him (so that he would eat), and he said 'bacon'. I won't get too theologically involved, but I believe there are dispesations for the ill regarding meat on Fridays during Lent, and I don't think the Lord would judge me too harshly if I had a slice or two, seeing as how I was aleady cooking some for Tony...

13. Love the stuff..
... was up to 4 thick slices at every breakfast (with my 4 eggs) but I've cut back to about half that.

I get my bacon from a meat market in a small town 60 miles north of Dallas. It, and all their meats, are twice as good as what you can get at local stores, unless you go to Whole Foods and pay double. :)

25. I've come to consider bacon as just another condiment
no less necessary than salt, pepper, mustard, etc. In fact, it's the perfect condiment, what with it's rich food value and all.

I may just be emotional right now, having just had breakfast, but I think this is the best thread ever started on DU.
