3. We met while both working at a video game company..

so he knows my dorky tendencies. Luckily, I'm cute and girly enough to pass as "normal", so people are always so suprised to find out I still play my Sega CD and have nearly every MST3K on tape.

4. What a wonderfully thoughtful

and original gift. I remember playing Ms. Pac-Man "marathons" in college. It's almost impossible to find either Pac-Man or Ms. Pac-Man anywhere anymore, so that's really neat.

And I hope you realize how very lucky you are and appreciate it. At least you have someone on VD Day and at least you're getting a present. Being single and alone at this time is like being Jewish at Christmastime, and you just cannot get away from it no matter what. And I'm getting tired of being told by friends and family and everyone else to just sit down and shut up and be happy for everyone else, and I'm tired of them making me feel guilty for feeling sad when everyone else is happy. And I'd apologize now, but I'm getting tired of doing that, too.

6. Don't apologize...

Valentine's day is all marketing and commerce. They keep telling you only bitter single people say that, but it's really, really true. Not everyone else is happy, believe me.

Someone should start a "It's great to be single because..." because there are a lot of reasons. I *love* going to movies and dinner alone. I love going to get coffee and read the NYT alone.. there's tons of good alone stuff.
