Like a moth with no flame to persuade me....ah Joan Armatrading!

Sinking
Caught up in a whirling motion
Such a strange sensation
The currents uncertain
Like sails of a mill
I spin
Like wheels I move in a circle
While you stand on the bank
Immune or evasive
Throw me a lifeline
Save me...

Intimacy and affection
Frozen
In this game of chance
I forfeit
Full hand of love
With no counters
Like a moth
With no flame
To persuade me
Like blood in the rain
Running thin
While you stand on the inside
Looking in
Save me...

Inside looking in
Complete in yourself
Throw me a lifeline
Save me...

Stand on the bank
Immune or evasive
Throw me a lifeline
Save me...

3. Thanks
I always thought she was far too overlooked here in this country. I think she got a little more of a buzz when Tracy Chapman became popular for a nano second because she was so derivative of Joan. But both fell off the radar pretty quickly. I don't think the industry knew what to do with such intelligent sexuality.

4. Video killed the radio star
You are absolutely correct, if they can't pigeonhole artists into some 'hot' video they're doomed. Will we ever see artistry like this again?

5. Of course
There are so many venues out there--The problem is where to look? I've pretty much stopped listening to much of the new stuff out there though. I just don't have time anymore to weed through the dreck.

I've been on a Leonard Cohen kick lately---I'm kicking my soul around the gutter for a few months until spring.
