Why underpants must stay under in the state of Virginia

The Guardian

It is a trend that has baffled parents, delighted teenagers everywhere and created a raging business for Calvin Klein.
And it has got up the nose of Algie T Howell, a lawmaker from the US state, who has launched a crusade to have it banned.

Mr Howell's ire is directed against publicly-visible boxers, briefs and thongs. His targets are those who follow the hip hop trend of wearing low-rise or baggy trousers which put such garments on display.

1. My first reaction

to the proposed law was...

How is anyone in Virginia going to get their drains unclogged...
once they've arrested every plumber in the state!

3. See the violence inherent in the system
I'M BEING OPPRESSED!!!

What's funny is that EVERYONE here thinks this is a colossal waste of time.

9. No kidding.
This is such a non issue here. The schools have dress codes that they actually enforce. My son's Middle School has an absolutely
amazing principal who actually knows all the kids and walks around during lunch checking on the dress code.

I don't have a problem with the dress code. I don't think they should be allowed to go to school in what is frankly no more than a bathing suit top.

5. They'll just take to wearing no underwear at all
to get around the law. Having lived in both southern and northern Virginny, I can understand how the neo-con biddies are all up in arms about hip cut pants and oversized jeans.

7. I'm just waiting for the 'burban girls to get busted for thongs
Actually almost no police officer is going to go out of their way to enforce this....unless they have nothing else to bust someone on ;-) but I can't wait until one of the private prep school girls around here gets busted for this THEN all hell will break loose and without directly saying it parents will be screaming "That law was supposed to be for....uh I mean I thought what you meant by that law was....uh...."
