I always liked the horse head nebula. Those French and Candadians sure know how to make a nice telescope. How would you like to find that in your bed as a message from the "godfather"? :-)

9. Wow, what a difference
I remember photos of the Horse Nebula from when I was a kid (mid/late Sixties), and it looked rather unimpressive, just the coincidental horsehead-shape was interesting. But this...my god! You can actually see it for what it is: some unimaginably huge tendril of interstellar gas slopping up out of the nebula, for god knows what reason. It looks like the gas reached some kind of peak velocity and then started to flip over and go back down. What could have caused that to happen...?

Thanks very much for this. A subject near to my heart.
