and I'm even from South River, NJ, which is a scant 10 miles from NYC as the crow flies.

But, I think the Cubs and Red Sox REALLY deserve a showdown this year. It could be the best thing that's happened for baseball in decades.

if the Cubs finally won after 95 years. (Hope I got that figure right but if not I know I'm very close.)

Is there anyone even ALIVE now who can remember clearly learning that the Cubs won in (I think) 1908?

The oldest person alive right now would be somebody born in the 1880's. Exactly which year I don't know, but there are people out there in their 110's. Hell, they could be someone in their 120's! The verifiable record now stands at 124, I think.

I'm just wondering if any of them can still remember hearing the crier out on the street corner yelling "Cubs win the World Series! Cubs win the World Series! Read all about it!"

On edit: Changed "was" in first sentence to "would be".
